Heard this played by a busker in Chester on Sunday, its the theme to A TV program that was made in 1964 Robinson crusoe. Don't know if the music is available anywhere, I listened to the original theme on you tube and got it from there, it was written for the bbc philharmonic. I will be posting it again as I get into it with better vibrato and may be slides into notes. I think you can hear parts  that Re very much like the gael

By the way Emily I am of to Romania on Thursday so will keep N eye out for any gypsy fiddle type playing, there was virtually nothing in Slovakia.

Well played @stringy

I remember watching that as a kid - can't remember any of the plot, but the theme music took me back instantly!

Thanks for taking a look Jim. I intend putting a better played version on when I have had a bit of time to practice it, I get carried away as soon as I learn a new tune and post it immediately then regret it. It is a beautiful piece of music and deserves better justice than I gave it  , but the next one will be a lot better.

I have never seen the original series but I am on the look out for a cheap copy in video shops, to see if it's as good as the theme.

Hope you may join in on this with a nautical tune. Good one that you Could easily backheel would be pirates of the caribean.

Thanks Greg and Sharon, if I wasn't 3 cents flat all the way through it would have been OK lol. I Have been practicing double stops by sit in 1st and 3rd position and I think it's made me worse

@stringy -

This is FABULOUS! 🤗

Think you played it VERY well!

How, cool!  I didn't know about this series (or the suite) and LOVE old series & films from books like this!

First I wondered if it was a mixed time piece, but I see it only changes for 2 measures in the piano notation, basically in 12/8 - this compound time makes sense when I looked at it.

I do LOVE the key change from major to minor - REALLY interesting piece!

THANK YOU FOR STARTING THIS PARTY!

I've been itching to record (and I have a bunch of tunes for this party!), but too much noise and activity around my house for the last couple weeks (morning & night), much needed help & crazy schedules that will resume later this week.  Yesterday, I stupidly tugged at a little piece of dry skin on my LH index finger & ended up pulling off a whole CHUNK of tender skin! 😱😖😳😬  ...I'm my own worse enemy. 😞

Once I get back recording I'll be a regular 'Partier' here!

Hope you have fun in Romania!!!

Thanks Mark it's an oldie but goldy.

Emily you need to watch out with fingers, little things can take a long time to heal, and it stops the practicing. That's interesting about the time , its definitely mixed time when I do it:) I also think the keys are atmospheric. Look forward to hearing yours and everyone's pieces.

Nice playing, stringy. I hope others join in on your party. "Sailors Hornpipe" anyone? Or how, about "What Do You Do With amDrunken Sailor?" Wow, have not thought about those two songs in decades.

I think the term Ive heard you Brits use is Daft...yeah believe this fits

And if fiddlin not bad enough...didnt think to move the tree 🤣.. omg.  Like Im hiding behind it.

Oh well..at least I learned a tune Ive been meaning to get the notes down on.  Now comes the eternity of making it sound right.   That 4th finger B seems like a good place to start 😉🙃 think im off more than 3 cents @stringy 😁

WTH.. doin it fer you man...  hope youre happy.  lol

That was great, @ABitRusty. You make it look so easy.

Loved the plant in front of you, by the way.

Great tune and playing Greg thanks for joining in, you didn't sound off at all to me, in fact you looked like you had six fingers on that left hand. Plant gave it a desert island feel, give my thanks to the dog as well, his input was appreciated;)

Oh, yes, @stringy, the dog was a great addition, too. That was so great!

@ABitRusty, where did you think you were off? I think it really sounded great. Did you do it by ear, no sheet music?

haha yeah @stringy.. my hound.  she popped in and was like HOOMAN...STOP.!

Thank you stringy.  Ive needed to mess with this one for a while and you gave a reason to work on it some.

@mouse I think overall intonation is ok.  Its on the B part and when I have to reach up with 4th finger to play a run of high B notes on e string.   I think im hitting them fairly in tune but if you notice my hand then will flatten out and rotate toward pegbox so it flattens.

I know this now without music.   BUT. ... i had it out while playing.  On the B part 2 measures in there was a part i was forgetting.  Ill try again and hopefully have some ornaments..no squeeks..and fix that 4th finger problem.

something else will derail though 😉😀

@ABitRusty  Great playing & tune!  Liked the plant, and the dog cameo 🐕

Your B was fine—I know that if I’ve got a run of things with the 4th finger, it’s not the 4th finger I’ll have trouble with; it’ll be one of the other surrounding notes.  Like you said about flattening your hand—I think because I’ll change hand shape for that 4th finger, the other notes don’t feel right, and then things feel awkward.  But your notes sound good there, though smile
