@SharonC -

That was TOTALLY WICKED!

Great playing, Sharon!

Nice to start getting into the Holiday Spirit, too!

It must be difficult to get your videos sync'd.

Do you have to listen to yourself playing while you record the 2nd voice?

I've been having trouble pairing this tune with something -

you've opened up possibilities for me!

Thank you for making this Party exciting!

...not feeling mine, yet - Turkey overload. 🙄

@ABitRusty @JohnG @markk @ELCBKK  Thanks, all!  A little tricky to play this Carraroe--pretty sure I used slurs in the wrong places smile

@ABitRusty

I found this duet version of I Saw Three Ships by someone on Youtube who goes by the name peakfiddler. His version is in G (which I think I like better), but I transposed it to D to match The Carraroe.

I've attached a copy of the transposed version in D that I did.

@ELCBKK

I usually use Musescore as a click track to record both parts.  I sometimes don’t use a click track, and just play & record the 1st part, then listen to the first part as I play & record the second part (most recently, I did this when I recorded Ashokan Farewell).

It gets a little harder to sync up the parts when the two violins don’t start at the same time (like in this recording)—I have to do some moving around with the video editing software.

I now usually put a few leading measures in the click track where I play a note (open A string) so many beats before the start of the piece, & I play this on both parts.  I use this pre-song note as a point to align the sound waves in the editing software.  Once I’ve finished putting in the parts, I cut the beginning off that has this “aligning” note.

@SharonC Thanks for sharing the sheet music!  I wish I would have thought about a Christmas tune before I posted, think its great   After you started playing thought Ive gotta learn this one.  And also inspired now to do something Christmas oriented with a carol and a trad Irish tune.  I think thats part of the fun and pluses to doing the parties... get ideas new tunes from everyone.

@SharonC -

Thank you!

It's a little overwhelming for me since I haven't started using any of that type of editing, yet.  When I do, I'm sure this will all make more sense to me.

Appreciate you took the time to explain! 😊

@stringy Thanks--ABitRusty picked a tricky tune to play--I would have liked to play it a little faster, but I would have been tripping over my fingers if I did smileI think a quartet version would sound wonderful!

@ELCBK Sorry for my geeky explanation smile

Nice job Sharon.
Just out of curiosity, why don't you use YouTube? It would be nice to be able to embed the video here rather than to an external site.

Thanks, Fiddlermansmile

I prefer to use Google Drive vs YouTube.
