She and the cello are one. That is what I want to feel like. I actually gently hug my cello before starting. If I get messed up, I stop and give it another gentle hug. Does nothing for my playing, but makes me feel good, and like I am connected. Weird, I know.
No, it’s not weird. I understand you! I have some kind of a strange and strong mental connection to my cello. I have sometimes even cried when hugging it, just because I have it. I always think other people would say I’m crazy, because no one really understand what my cello means for me.
Back to the original topic of this thread:
My cello had been in a storage several years before I got it. I can sign that fact how the sound grows when it has been played again. It sounds very different now than a year ago.
