So I have approx. 45 minutes total play time on my new violin and I was just thinking....Hey I'm gonna play around with violin-4 on the Christmas project and see If I can do it. Well since I didn't have anything printed at home I tried by ear. whew, wrong idea. I ended up on the A string playing what I thought was the proper four notes in the beginning. So even though I was in the wrong place it didn't sound bad for my first actual playing of full notes with bow and all. But what I got at times was the note would start out good then sometimes would turn into what I would call a feedback sound. Kinda what would come from a mic or something. I added some rosin thinking that might be the issue and it did help some. If I play the notes slow it's not as bad. If I apply more pressure on the bow it's not as bad. So I'm thinking maybe some bad bow technique.
I have now downloaded the pdf formatted sheet music and see I should have been on the D string I think. I'm still trying to grasp when to use different notes with different strings. I'll play that tomorrow and see how it sounds. I'm thinking after a few hours of practicing I might be able to do it.
