I have been attempting to hunt down some music notation for an Old Time fiddle tune called, Hell and Scissors. There is only a few recording of this old tune and I was having problems hunting down the sheet music for it to aid in my efforts to learn it by ear. I just couldn't figure out the exact notes for this particular person's style of playing it. I was referred to a published volume of work which had Hell and Scissors notation. I purchased it online and it arrived today.
I have to say that this is a great reference source for those into playing or learning Old Time fiddle tunes. It lists notation for 1404 Old Time Fiddle tunes mostly from the Appalachian region. I cannot wait to try out some of these. I recommend it highly.

The title is "The Milliner-Koken Collection of American Fiddle Tunes" and the ISBN#9780983100300. I ordered this through the website http://www.mudthumper.com and it's on their homepage. The book is professionally done, dark blue hardcover bound. Very nice and I thought reasonably priced for the work that was done on it. I've purchased books that had less and cost more. With shipping it came to a little over $100. It has an index that is cross-referenced by tunings as well as title, some info on the recorded artist etc. It's all fiddle musical notation.
