"While I'm no where near able to "move" people yet, my dear friends, I will eventually. This is my goal. If there's no audience to connect with, why would you play? I'm curious to hear an answer to that."
I can think of many reasons. Personal satisfaction, achievement, knowledge, enjoyment, a path to relaxation, improvement of technique, reaching a goal , the sheer love of playing, etc. And then, you are also your own audience so to speak, and probably your most critical one at that. If I were the only person on earth I would still play regularly.
Of course actually connecting with an audience and working with others add a whole added dimension to the art and science of being a musician. That is why I actively sought and joined an orchestra so I could connect with other players and an audience and do more than just playing on my own.

At the level that I play at, frankly, no. I don't feel good enough.
However, I WANT to play for other people and have them enjoy it.
But one day, it will happen. And I feel that time is not 'very' far away. I hope
As they say, "A pleasure shared is a pleasure doubled."
Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of ..... What was I saying????
