Today was my first ever official violin lesson. It went really well - better than I anticipated actually! My teacher has his masters in music on the violin and he plays both classic and fiddle! My old girl apparently has a "really big sound", and my technique isn't that atrocious for a self-taught player. He gave me some tips and exercises to do. This should go well, I'm excited to get to be where I should be and make some changes to make playing easier - such as using my arm to get my fingers in position instead of keeping my arm stiff and moving my hand (I didn't even realize that is what I was doing). proper bow hold too (holy cow it feels weird though).
My next goal - learn to vibrate!

Congrats on taking that step! its pretty nice to figure out something you are doing wrong and start working on unlearning it. I am still on my first lesson. Only been about 2 years and finally figured out the bow hairs face DOWN when playing.

Very cool. Enjoy!
Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Very very AWESOME!!!
Enjoy your lessons...sometimes from what I am learning, there are pre-vibrato exercises and movements that the teachers have the student do and the students don't even know it is pre -vibrato practice. You will get there soon. Congrats!!!
