Do you have a preference of one over the other? I was thinking about upgrading my Cecilio, as my daughter is getting interested in violin and actually doesn't do too bad playing mine.

One wonders if the damage would have been as severe had the chicken not been tied to the barrel.

I'll know for sure soon. :-)
I kind of figured that question was coming soon. I still believe every instant is unique for these instruments. If an instrument was made from the exact same piece of wood (which is impossible) and all by the same maker (which is unlikely) we would have a more reliable result.

This demo that I received was fantastic.

Which demo? Concert Master or Kohr?

I think FM has the Concert Master confused with the Cecelio. I'm confused now too. Lol

The Concert Master is a Cecilio, I think (MV125). The video for it is here.

I was mistaken that FM had reviewed the K500P. It was the August Kohr 550. My bad.

I'm sorry Pierre, but you are going to have to use more concise words and be definitive about which one you are talking about. Please.dunno

I'm confused too.

Sorry guys. I assumed you guys had seen the Concert Master demo. I tested and loved the Concert Master.

I'll know soon which I prefer because I have never played on a K500 and will be doing so soon. A K500 has been shipped but hasn't arrived here yet.

The Concert Master is definitely not a Cecilio. There will be no label in the Concert Master but it is sold for more money under a different name elsewhere. Can't say much more about it. Distributors sometimes have rules.

Personally I LOVE the Concert Master video.  I have watched it several times. ( I geek out on his reviews, lol)  My goal, when I reach a full year of playing, is to upgrade to the Concert Master.  Watch the vid and see what you think.  Then wait a couple of days until FM reviews the Kohr and make aa desicion.violin-studentviolin_girlserenade

I will be reviewing a K500 any day now. I ordered a K550 for Naska's sake today. It will however take 2 weeks to get here. They always set them up after they get the order.

The only Kohr review I've done is the HC602 :-)

One disadvantage to the Kohr instruments is that you have to wait unless you get it at a store but they usually charge 0-40 more.

If you don't keep that 500, and you like it more than the Concert master, I'll buy it from you! Provided no one else has dibs first. ;)

Two people have dibs on the Concert Master (I know that you are talking about the K500) but I am kind of holding it for my favorite dibber who is also intersted in the HC602.
The K500 is already paid for by one of our members.... He has been patiently waiting for it and I'll let him be the one to tell you if he so pleases.

ooooohhhh, so mysterious.... probably spring it on us doing some concert piece in a "smack you in the face" video posted on You-Tube huh?

What's the biggest difference between the K500 and the K550? Is the difference wroth the difference in price as well?

It might be only the price..... I can't tell by their description.

Johannes Köhr = K500 - Our flagship student instrument - it's so good, we know of several people who play it professionally! Good, even tonal quality; plenty of resonance throughout, with fine sound projection. Glossy, rich reddish-brown finish. List: $578.00

August F. Köhr = K550 - Better, hand-graduated violin with well flamed, seasoned maple back (one or two piece). Medium satin, red-brown to gold-brown finish. Open sound with big projection. Rich, medium tone throughout. Very responsive and easy to play. List: $935.00

Curtiss loves his :-) You guys know him as "screeeeech"
