I printed this today. Is this all in second position?  No first finger A# would be 4th right?  Do the fingerings start where the positions change? And do you stay in that position until you see a change in fingerings?  drooling

For the record.....what is it that I should see on your post?  Sheet music?  Something else?  All I see is text.

Is something broken here? (happens all the time).

Generally yes LB,

I do things differently for beginners but that piece is not exactly beginners material. On the D string if you play A with the 1st finger you are in fourth position, that is correct.

For the most part I write the fingerings for when you should shift but sometimes it is just a preferred fingering in the same position like in bar #8 and 9. In order to leave the first finger down you need to use the 3rd on C# and 4th on the D.

I noticed last night when working on this piece. That  I was playing it by the fingerings and the sound .

Some of the time I would just know where the next note was placed on the staff and the spaceing of the step that corrosponds with the  step pattern, not really focusing or knowing what the actual note was.

For example you know that in first position E to G you will skip over the F and your second finger.

Now in first position I know what the note is and what the fingering is. But not when playing a unfamiliar position.

This tecnique gets the job done but my concern is.  Is it counter productive to really learning all the notes and where they are positioned on the violin.

Or am I overthinking this and I should just be happy that I can tell what song Im playing.dazed

Not counter productive in that way but if you want to improve your reading skills. You should be able to learn technique and achieve a great sound just as easily doing it the way you are.

F.M. I tried to post a video of me scratching away at HMK, never could get it to go. Was using insert button above. Any ideas?   I noticed I was blocked on file upload. Could this be it?

It might have something to do with max file size or something. I'm not sure.

If you want to post it easily you just post it on youtube and embed it here. If you don't want the general public to see it just set it as "unlisted" and only those who have the address such as the members looking at your embedded video will be able to see it.

Look forward to seeing it. exactly

Actually I am looking for someone to print a large number of "Fiddlerman.com" caps for me to sell here. I found one that gave me an incredible price but the sample cap that they sent me is too bulky. I want the exact same model as mine. It has to be a G.I. cap too. If I pay too much imagine what I have to charge everyone.dunno I'm working on it and promise that they will be available. Glad that there is an interest.

Cool, Thanks, I think you would have agreed then if you had seen the cap.exactly

Sometimes people use other versions such as

ROFL = Rolling On Floor Laughing

ROTFFLMAO = Rolling On The F_____g Floor Laughing My A__ Off

Many more combinations as I am sure you will figure out. LOL
