Hi, I have been a long time lurker and I thought it would be time to introduce myself. I enjoy surfing these forums and seeing all the supportive people and the courageous people posting videos etc. So I figured what the heck!
I have been playing violin for about 3 to 3.5 years now, taking lessons form a teacher who heads the local middle/high schools music program, and teaches strings at the local university I attend. I am a non traditional full time student(started at 28 am 31 now), I started working toward my bachelors in accounting a few months after picking up the violin.
I am minoring in music as well (for now I may not in the long run as its a lot of $$) and they allow me to get credit for playing the violin (Huge Bonus) I also get the very special honor of playing with a Very talented youth orchestra which is the absolute highlight of my week which my teacher also heads. I get to play with the little kids which is a riot, and I get taken through the ringer with the older high school group as we are playing Die Fledermaus as our big show piece and we put on shows twice a year for an audience of a couple hundred people. We all get dressed up in black tie formal etc. so it's A Lot of fun. Its insanely challenging but I love struggling through it and cannot express how much I love music.
Looking forward to chatting with you folks.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
Yes, Orchestra is an amazing experience, it just sort of happened last fall. I love those kids to death, they are so much fun. It took some time for everyone, including parents, to warm up to me though. We have another big show in a couple weeks and I am very excited.
