THATS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!~!! Jauniba,
I noticed that when I am not focused on the sheet music and just playing, usually as I walk around its easier to feel and flow! Keep up the good work, and thank you for sharing with us. I really enjoyed hearing you play, what an amazing song of worship!
Many Blessings

Thanks everyone! I should post just her with the piano and let everyone work up their own stuff. I'm telling ya, it's an awesome song to play to. (then you can, ah, give me pointers too cough cough). The goal is to record a cd. Of LIVE worship. Mm-hm. No pressure. Live. In front of our "mega church". I do NOT possess nerves of steel for improvisational solos. And sometimes this guy gets in the way too

I know what you mean about not having nerves of steel for improvistational solos! ans as for , who frequetly gets in the way, he only does it b/c he knows that is in true worship God meets us right where we are and we are blessed beyond messure there! That is why you will see a lot of churchs being attacked through their worship team.
I will be sure to keep you and your God give dream in my prayers and know that greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world! You are more than a conquer through Christ Jesus! You will be making many more songs like the previous one you posted and I can't wait to hear all about them! The amazing thing is that it is through our weaknesses, (remember I too have a fear of being in stage and feel like their are violinst out there who are more sutibale) that God is able to truly shine b/c it is then that you know it is truly Him!
Many Blessings,
Mellissa

LOL. Don't worry, she doesn't mean like a physical attack. It's a spiritual attack.
And I dont know why this posted twice but I cant figure out how to delete it.
Oh yeah sorry anathama, and thanks for clearing that up for me Jauniba. I have experienced 1st hand the enemy trying to sneak in on the worship team and cause discord and bickering, not a pretty thing. When that happens it takes the focus off of the true meaning of worship and sets a terrible atmosphere for the church. The purpose of the worship team is to bring the church into the presence of the Lord and it is really hard to do that without unity!
As for it posting twice & not being able to delete it, I tried to use the spell check on my last post and it told me everything was spelled correctly, but I know I misspelled several words.

Love playing praise and worship on the violin. Best tips I can give, be practiced up, prayed up, and if your skills are intact you can let go and let the Spirit take over! That's when it gets really good!
Amen Sister Jean!

Ive been wondering lately, I there is any fiddle style violinist that play christian music professionally? Because I want to play in my church youth group, when I get a violin.
I play professionally, doing ministry work all over the world. A fiddle can be used anywhere Check out worshipviolin.com

I enjoyed reading the posts of other "fiddlers" who play on worship teams. Most of the playing I do is on one of the various worship teams at my church as well. It's a relatively large church with a considerably large number of musicians who all take their turns at it. Our church uses three worship styles in two different venues. One they call the live service. It is contemporary, with sort of a soft rock style. The second is called the "edge", where the music is a harder style of rock targeting a younger audience. The third is the "classic" that still leans towards contemporary but often uses hymns. For Christmas and Easter we will often put an orchestra together.
I always play in the orchestra. I sometimes play in the live services but more often play for the classic ones. A lot depends on the music the worship pastor selects on a particular week. There is a young lady who does a nice job playing for the edge about every other week. She uses a Fender electric violin.
I have become comfortable with playing off of lead sheets and improvising. The nice thing about improvising is that the parts are never too hard for my skill level as I play what I comfortable with. Since I have also spent a lot of time playing the mandolin I have found that knowing the mandolin chord formations is helpful in picking out notes that work with the chords on a lead sheet.
I also find it very helpful to practice along with some sort of recording but like others wish that the worship team would play in the same key as the original artist so that we would not have to relearn the tune when the teams gets together to rehearse.

My experience is very similar to yours but on a smaller scale. I don't think I have ever played in church for more that 150-200 people ..... worship band sort of thing.
Yeah, getting the right music for everyone is almost always a problem.
It just happens that I am currently "in love" with a group that sings some worship style music once in a while. I love the lead singer (Tiffany Underwood) who is a singer in the Carter tradition, the close Carter-like harmony and the shortest guy in the group who is a 13 yr old banjo player .... and good ! A bunch of folks from W. Va. I think.

I did record a multi-tracked 3-fiddle on "Jesus on the Main Line". It was based on the version by Ry Cooder.

Oh Jim you got me with Ry Cooder.
I get hired to play my 12 string guitar in many weddings in Church's. I love spiritual music but i respect many religions besides Christian. One comment I heard by FM is learn to play with your eyes closed and you and others will feel the spirit.
There's a running joke that goes around with many of my fellow musician friends where I said that every time I walk into a church that my feet start to burn.
It was a joke but people need to respect all people and their own religion or spiritual thoughts. I was born and raised as a Lutheran and went to church a lot but when I started getting overdue notices by the church because I wasn't keeping up on payments I pretty much lost respect....especially when I poor my heart and soul out for the good of man (and women).
