@Terry...

After 3 long grueling months of backbreaking sleepless night practicing I'm sure your fat fingers have just lost weight.

I think that's EXACTLY it Terry; making small adjustments to make it work!  My hands/fingers/knuckles have been broken so many times, I'm lucky I can feed myself with a fork, no less find notes on a doll-sized instrument roflol

Lol. I can imagine you losing weight coz your food always falls off your fork! No more fat fingers.
And always my left hand index and middle finger got broke fighting (karate) means I am really having to work on flexibility and hand position to make the first F and F flat on the A string, but on a positive note, it makes 3rd position something to look forward to.

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

JC Terry, you must be my brotha from anotha mutha; haaaaa!  You have EXACTLY the same issues I have; 14 yrs of mma (I've actually rolled with a few of your countrymen about 3yrs ago) and my hands are so inflexible & stiff, it's VERY difficult to make my fingers move the way they need to.  But, as I'm sure you feel, it's such an incredible addition to my life that you just work harder to make it work.  Appreciate you sharing that cuz I was feelin sorry for myselfroflol

It makes sense that it didn't quite turn out the way you expected. I think that otherwise many more would have done it because it is quite logical in theory. We would have seen many violinists playing on 16" ---> viola's all over youtube and in chamber groups and orchestras. I'm still curious about what it sounds like. Maybe I'll do it some day just out of curiosity.

You're right FM; just chalk it up to being a newbie, lol.  Thanks for your insight.  Yeah, I really wish I had done a vid clip for you.
