I also remember Barry's topic Lets write an Irish tune and tried to write some Irish tune for B part, but i liked FiddlerMan's - so dumped all my stuff LOL
Though i agreed with Canon in D very-very-very much - always wanted to play it. And i thought as well about:
- He's a Pirate (Hans Zimmer) (i don't know who, but someone asked about sheet music of it already) it contains many parts - so could be played by many players =)
- Sad Romance (But can hardly imagine it with many parts - weird but fun )
Those are pop music and everybody know them =)
As for me - Canon is the great idea for project and i'd like to play it, but there are lots of it played and mixed...but i've never seen He's a Pirate yet played that way.
That what i think.....

canon in D has parts to it but its pretty much the same part played at different starting points. I'm ok with it though
Hes a pirate is really epic! I played it in school, my string orchestra joined up with the wind orchestra and it sounded amazing!
Sad romance is really hard for a group project. I tried to play it with a friend, me playing the melody and her trying to harmonize, its pretty hard to get more string parts in that one too.

My song suggestion would be the theme for Rohan from LOTR. Or In Dreams.
I think LOTR soundtracks are pretty good but takes a lot of patience with the timing.
Hans zimmer soundtracks are quite epic and he has composed a lot of awesome songs, they tend to sound amazing in orchestras.
Something to consider would be disney soundtracks like lion king or mulan or like a disney mash up orchestra style!

On the fiddle style fiddle project I say we go with "Red Wing" unless we get more suggestions.
On the more classical project I vote for Hans Zimmer's "He's a Pirate".
Yep, i vote for those two too! =)
About the Red Wing - i agree with Kevin! Barry, we need a lesson! =) i'm still pretty bad with double stops (it made me paranoid by tuning my violin - i always think that i'm out of tune LOL even if check with synthesizer )

OK, so whats the procedure?
FM are you writing parts for the first one, and Barry are you choosing music for the second one? Is there a certain arrangment for red wing we are going to use?
If so how can I get the music for red wing?
That Christmas project has me all fired up!
No matter where you go, there you are!
