I was looking over violin 3 and on measure 20 is little 16th G notes? Do we play them on a 1/16 violin?

Next question, the notes with the dot and line under them.  I thought the dot meant to play stacato but with the line I don't know

smile Kevin, LOL
Those are called grace notes and played fast just before the note, while keeping your rhythm with the dotted quarters.

The line and dot together always means that you play legato with a slight separation. Good questions Kevin, I'm sure they will be asked several times and it is the best way to learn.

Thanks

Tonight was beginner strings class and I told my instructor about this site and the Pirate project.  He teaches music at Palm Springs (CA) High School.  Hes going to check out the site and see if his string students would like to join the project.

I've learned so much from my mistakes that I've decided to make some more.

I think I'm competent enough to play the violin 1, so I'll play violin 1 :D.

And I'm looking forward for the mp3/midi for each part for all of us, so we'll play the song in the ryt speed. Thanks, this project would be fun.

FM is going to send a click thing which I hope is the timing for us all to follow.
I'm a complete beginner too, but really looking forward to participating, especially after the Christmas project sounded so good.

That will work fine Terry.

My suggestion is that you listen to the recording and I will be making some instructional videos this week. That will help a lot. You guys will let me know if anything is hard to understand later.

Hey, everybody!

Having another question (i guess for FiddlerMan mostly LOL):

V1 part, 103 and 104 bars:

103_104.jpg

3 up bows in the row! duncecap It's hard for me to do diminuendo on the 3rd up-bow stroke (close to the frog). I could correct it with preassure and end somewhere in a middle. Don't know how to do it...drooling

(though  i really doubt that someone will notice my poor dynamics.... but it's really interesting.... for the future...) =)

Any help appreciated!! birthday_balloon

That was just a test to see if anyone would notice. LOL
Sorry Naska,
You are right of course. Make that last bar a down bow.
Thanks for catching that Naska smile

I'd love to join this one! Though I still have to wait for my violin which would arrive by the end of the month. I still have lots of practicing to do since it's been months since I last held my violin. violintongueviolin-student

I know that if I am on Safari I can't use the chat box but if I use Internet Explorer I can use the chat box.  Try a different browser

Trouble is, my laptop doesn't fit on my music stand facepalm
