thank you.
hehe I saw your name earlier, and noticed the rattieness.
:p
I'm uploading another little video with two attempts at love me tender that go iffy at the end, and then just going through the notes on the strings.
because even though I didn't have it right, I still felt like the progress was good.
I'm having some trouble isolating individual strings, and not catching the adjacents on the bow strokes, but I suppose that will come in time. it could also be the bridge, (or it could be the old adage of a workman blaming their tools :p)
the guitarist in me keeps muting those strings with my left hand when that happens.
I really am enjoying this learning process, and it's nice that I don't feel like it's good enough to share, as everyone is so nice here.

Doing nice Rattus.Did you have any trouble getting the left handed violin? I've never seen one in a shop, or on eBay for that matter
that's just my webcam playing mind tricks with you there @Ferret
it shows things like a mirror image.
it took me a while to notice, then I realised the boys pumpkincube was in the wrong corner of their cage. only THEN did I notice the door and stairs were on opposite sides and I appeared to be playing left handed, like Ziggy Stardust.
so no, it's a standard right hand violin, and my computer webcam being silly.

feedback is all good. I know I've got a long way to go, so I can try my best to improve any issues.
so I'll try and work on that some more.
it's quite good filming it and watching back, as you can see things yourself sometimes. like at one point the bow is seesawing all over the place, but when I am concentrating on it, it's straighter. so that lets me know that it's something I need to focus on more.

Very, very good Rattus your sounding better than I did when I started not that I'm a pro by any means this is not a criticism but rather something I learned because I was play by ear for a long time what helped me was to sit and pluck my notes while vocally naming them off then I'd move to using the bow and doing the same thing reciting the notes as I bowed them.
Other than that big thumbs up

Well done rattus!
One thing I noticed is the pinky on your bow hand. Try to keep it more curved and relaxed. This was a big problem for me at first, but once I recognized it and corrected it, I think my bowing has improved significantly. As Naska ( @Mad_Wed ) pointed out in another thread, it's meant to counter the weight of the bow when playing near the frog - she explains it much better than I can.
Yeah, I know, there's a lot to think about.
the guitarist in me keeps muting those strings with my left hand when that happens.
Hahaha! Why didn't I think if that!

I've been working on Scarborough fair.
does anyone know the Stone Roses? my husband loves them, and used to play their song Elizabeth my Dear
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....JNcnDLWNis
a lot on the guitar. which is the same tune, but with a really picked out guitar, so I'm nagging him to get that back into his regular repertoire, so we can play that together.
if that happens, I'll definitely post it
