I was in a rut. Playing the same stuff every day, and just trying to perfect the songs I already learned. I decided to move ahead and try Ashokan Farewell. One of the most beautiful songs ever written for violin! Surprisingly, I got it after only an hour or so, and now it's committed to memory without using sheet music. My point is, don't let the winter blues get you down. Try something new to wake up your strings! New challenges are great this time of year. Next on my list is La Vie En Rose, another beautiful violin piece. BTW, check out the Taylor Davis version of Ashokan Farewell on youtube. She plays it in four part harmony, and it will bring tears to your eyes.
Have a warm winter.
