I usually have a morning practice, that often doesn't go that well, then I have an early evening or late afternoon practice that goes better. But when I pick up the violin after 8pm I dunno why but I'm playing a lot better, things are coming more smoothly and most of all, I feel extremely inspired by playing at night. Maybe it's because it's more quiet, people are relaxing I dunno. Ok that comes in conflict with the kid that has to sleep and the neighbours I already said I dislike playing with a mute. So when I put the violin in its case my heart is twisting because because I feel like it's at night my real practice should be!
You have any favorite time you feel at your best for practice?

Oh wow, I find the itch to play at several points in the day! LOL Oddly enough, the biggest itch is always at night!
My fiddle, for the most part, stays out with me in the living room throughout the day and doesn't go back into the case until I go to bed. I'll actually pick it up several times during the day and play for 10-15 minutes here and there.
I think I have the urge to play at night because I usually read then and my choice material is books on violin/fiddle/music! LOL

The roosters around here break from their repertoire about 10 am, after that I'm good to go. Then, afterwards, I practice anytime I feel in the mood and my fingers are not too sore; up untill midnight or so.
In the evenings I either pluck the strings or bow very softly. I haven't had to force myself to practice, however, it's only been a week. I may have to start scheduling once the newness wears off.
By the way; I serenade the roosters with YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE, ITSY BITSY SPIDER, TWINKLE TWINKLE, AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL, AND MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB - more to come, hopefully.

I've always been a fan of playing later in the day, as I'm not a morning person. But on top of that, I really enjoy when it is raining outside or when there is a really good thunderstorm. There's just something about it that is really relaxing to me and that just says "No, stay inside, do something relaxing."
My problem now is trying to avoid disturbing my roommates. It sucks when I really want to practice and all of my roommates are home. Sometimes they insist that it's okay, but then I feel like every mistake I play is treacherous to their ears. I'm still looking into getting a mute, but I think the Electric Violin may solve some of those problems.

I2ain, a rubber mute completely over the bridge really does the trick for what $3-5 max. Roomates are noisy anyway they won't notice you or any bad notes lol

My favorite time was in the morning. As the day went on I became more tired and couldn't play as well as in the morning. Maybe in the morning I was still sleeping and only think I played better. Right now with it being spring, cleaning tack and getting horses ready for show season, there is very little time during the day so I'm going to have to start practicing at night.
