I love Dominants but not the e string. Zyex are great too but don't like the e string sound on them either. I have a Silver Creek acoustic/electric violin and Helicore sound so well on that. But it sure does make a difference on how long you play that fiddle. They really do open up the longer you play and strings will make less of a difference to me anyways.

I did not see this before. A Zyex blurb AND string tension tables. ( No wonder "E" is up tight.)

Jost got a sale flyer from JSI Johnson String Instruments, I looked at the price of Zyex strings, they were on sale.List Price $337
JSI Price $151.65
JSI SAle Price $134.80
Fiddlershop $34.29
That's almost 4 sets for the price of one.
You sure it wasn't a misprint ? Or were they maybe cello or bass strings ? I just took a look at JSI's on line catalog and they were listed as $35.00 for a set for a 4/4 violin. Still more expensive than fiddlershop.
Update !! I think that must have been the price for Zyex bass strings. the price for a set of Zyex bass strings is listed as $134.00 for a set at JSI.
