I have recently noticed that due to the auto recording level feature, that can't be turned off on my JVC video cam, much of the dynamics that I attempt to give my playing through changes of loudness are removed.facepalm

Has this been a problem for anyone else?

Yep. I noticed it mostly, when tried to record on my webcam. It happens with my usual (photo camera) too, but with less amount. I don't have a lot of different cameras to compare, but it seems that my webcam also has something that resonates with different notes and adds dynamics here and there (same thing i have with my dictaphone - it very likes to resonate on D note =)). Also my webcam does strange things, like cutting the volume at the half of note duration. Like it hears that i'm reducing the volume and says: "Ok, i'll help You and drop it totally down!" LOL! Smart, funny, but useless and annoying hahahahaha!

I actually had that happen quite a few times.

There are settings on many video camera's for auto levels. Not all recorders have this though.
