Aloha everyone,
I'm on a Mac, and am Ok with using PhotoBooth for recording my violin for both audio and video. The result is a .mov file. I can play audio when I record, but it sounds really muddy when the resulting .mov file is played. To that end, I can use Logic Pro to record my violin and combine the background track with the recording of the violin, but I need to sync that up with the video and delete the audio from the .mov file.
If anyone can assist me in this, or at least point men the right direction to research this myself, I would be eternally grateful.

The audio shouldn't be worse based on simply the software. Your hardware or settings should be the problem. However, you said that LogicPro works well? You should be able to achieve the same result using any video app.
To delete the audio from your .mov file open the file with the free app called "MPEG Streamclip

Export to??? I usually choose MPEG-4 and make sure to choose "no sound" under sound.

Thanks for your response. Using MPEG Streamclip, you end up with video with no sound, correct? Is there a way to save the audio separately? I can combine the background audio with the audio of my playing in Logic Pro. Finally, should I be able to use iMovie to subsequently combine the video and audio tracks?

I just installed MPEG Streamclip and noticed that in the export options was one for exporting the audio, so I can extract only the audio, then convert it to .mp4 with no audio. Thanks for your information. That's exactly what I wanted for now - we'll see if I can get everything working the way I want for the final product

Exactly. You can save just the audio. You can also save the video without audio. Just choose "no sound" when exporting. There are many other possibilities as well. Great free app.
