We made a very short vid of me, seeing how one of my fiddles sounded. I's now in my computer and I can even find it and play it. I'm using a JVC Everio cam. We loaded a software disc that came with it called LoiLofit. This short vid is 35.1 MB. We tried to post it, as FT says 'unlimted size' for a whole bunch of things. As I've posted a few MP3's now I did the same procedure. click on attachments > click on add files > click on the file and I get no items match your search. My friend said try custom files to all files, the vid appears, but when I click open, I get 'file extension error File: Violin Sound Check 001 MTS.
What to do? I haven't read the Cam manual yet. Do I need to adjust the Cam to make it smaller? Open a U-tube account, post it there, and then post it here?
Please keep any reply's concise, as I won't have a clue what you're say, and I'll hafta re-copy it to email to my friend...unless I learn to copy & paste to email.
Thanking you in advance from the stone age....bv.

I am really bashful telling others how to work on computers because I am so far behind,,,but to copy and paste...move your curser to the right side of a line of type, like this line, hold the left button on the mouse down and move the curser to the left. The line should turn blue. Take your hands off the computer, then hit control key and the 'c' key. You just copied that blue stuff. Now open notebook or word, make sure you see the curser, then hit control and the 'v' key. You should now see what you copied. Play with that.

You get this type of thing ?- -
If so - it has to do with the allowed file-types. It sounds as if it is not in an appropriate video format ( or one of the formats allowed by WordPress as uploads... )
You'll find a list of allowable file-types at the foot of the "Attachments/ Add Files" page - your video program should ( I would guess ) be able to save your video file as, for example a ".MOV" or ".MP4" or ".AVI" and so on - the allowed types are to be found in the "Media Allowed Types" section of the Attachments/Add File" dialog....
Some of the files can however be VERY large - (which has an impact on folks with poor/slow internet) - it is often better to upload them to YouTube and just post the YT link here....
EDIT : And yes, a fine description of the Ctl-C / Ctl-V mechanism there, @MrYikes ! Cool !
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -

Ok, I use the Control C, and Control V method to copy U-tube vids and post them.
Thanks.

Billy: I've since learned that uploading them to U-tube would prolly be the best/easiest way. My video teacher is going to look into how to open an account this week. I tried opening a U-tube account a few months ago and filled out the on-line 'application' sent them my name, email address etc., didn't seem to be a problem. A few days later I get an email....Congratulations, you are only one step away...so I click on that, and now they want the name of my web-site, Company name, URL address and other stuff. I wanted to to tell them 'I don't have a web site, I just wanna put up a few video's' It seems it was a business account, but there was no indication of that in the initial 'application' Do I need a web-site now? Sheesh!!

LOL - yeah - it gets confusing. It looks like you might have somehow "applied" for one of the various levels other than "basic". There's no need for a personal web site etc etc for the basic account.
A "hint" here - YouTube is part of the great and good (tongue-in-cheek) Google Empire. If you create a Google account ( even if it means creating a "secondary" email address on gmail for instance - you don't even really have to use it ) - suddenly you have standard / basic access to loads of Google products - like YouTube....
It's perfectly safe ( well, it has been for me ) to stay permanently signed-in to your Google account. That means any time you come-online you can get straight in to YT to post any vids etc.... Once it's all set up you can forget about it - it just works !
Good luck !

Billy: I did open up a G-mail account w/G-mail email address, and now, just like you say, I've got access to you tube....yahoo!
Side bar: I purchased some Church Mode backing tracks several months ago from David Wallimann, but when I opened them up my computer said 'these aint free and hafta send us $25....some windows RAR thing I guess. I would have paid it, but the procedure was very complicated, so I just left them sitting on desk top.
when I had my video lesson last week, I told my friend about it it. He said 'no way' and within a few clicks he got me access to them. each mode has 2 tracks, a groove track and vamp track. I think they are very well done, not cheesy at all. here's an example of the groove track for C lydian.
C lydian would be a Gmaj scale with a C tonic and F# emphasis. I think the tracks for all the modes are great sounding and well done. Fun to play to.

All computer files including audio files and video files must adhere to particular standardized file formats, so that the computer knows how to read and process the file. Those files formats are usually identified by their file extension (the part after the last dot in the file name) such as .mov, .mp3, .jpg, .txt, etc. What the error message is telling you is that the file format that you have specified .txx is not a file format that it knows how to process. It then lists the file formats that it does know how to process:
.MOV" or ".MP4" or ".AVI" and so on
I'm not familiar with the software that you are using, but I suspect that you recorded the song and then selected SAVE. You then may have tried to upload the file you saved and it is a format known by the software you are using, but is not known to the system to which you attempted to upload the file.
I would suggest that you open the file that you are interested in with the recording software, then (a guess) select the "File" tab (or whatever tab has the SAVE option) and look for an item that says EXPORT. If there is an export function, it will probably have options for one or more movie file formats. Once you have created the export file (it will be created with one of the above extensions depending on which export format you choose) then you should be able to upload that file without issue.
Just a guess though, since I'm not familiar with your software.

Here's a link to FAQ for LoiLofit:
http://www3.jvckenwood.com/eng.....t/faq.html
Looking under the heading of Video Conversion, I think you'll find that you can export the video in .wmv format without having to purchase a complete version of LoiLofit.

Yup - but - just to add to that - for folks ( like myself, and others no doubt ) who have "limited broadband capability" - mine is only 512Kb - an MP4 format file, dropped here, in the forum - which is an "allowed attachment", can, for a 4 minute video, take 30 minutes to download, hesitating every 10 seconds or so. So, even with an mp4 format ( or any other format, doesn't matter ) it is much more "socially convenient" to upload it to you tube- and once done - post the YT link here, rather than the raw .MP4 video file.....
The reason is, that on playback from YT it ( i.e. youtube) "understands" your connection, and will stream it to "best-meet- the-needs of your broadband connection".
Over the last few years, there have been a number of videos posted directly onto the forum in .mp4 or .mov that I would have liked to comment on, but have simply had to "walk away from" and not wait the 30 minutes or so needed to upload - but - OK - that's just my own limitations with the cr4p connection I have here - but I'm sure it applies to MANY other members as well.
Really, the best way to share videos - is/must be - to post to YT if you can and just give us the link, here, in the forum - and exactly as @KindaScratchy says - once posted to YT you can make them unlisted if you want to.
