I need a question answering from anyone who uses an 8 track recorder, I have a tascam which exports files to my Samsung in wave format, does anyone know of a free mp3 converter for Samsung tabs, so I could then use the track in a video editor, or is there a better way of doing it, any advice appreciated, as I am thick when it comes to using these things

Stringy theres several apps on google play that could work. Ive linked a video to one i found.
Is your video editor not liking WAV files? Its usally a better quality format vs mp3 i think. But if youre needing a coverter look on google play and find one that you think looks best. VLC for android has been around a while. Heres one that seems more basic...i always thought VLC was overkill but its probably one of the more established type apps for it. It also seemed to want to be THE media player for my device and didnt always want that
heres VLC

I went looking to see if you could change from wav to mp3 inside tascam before you export. in other words..export as an mp3 instead of wav. doesnt look like it.. BUT..found this video that you may want to watch about bringing recordings into the tascam.
you may already do that..idk...juat found it and thought what tbe heck may be useful

Thanks Greg for the links and the answer. To be honest I haven't tried using the wav file in the video editor yet as I have always used mp3s and thought it may cause problems when uploading to you tube, like not working at all:) I have had the tascam for a year and recorded a couple of different Instruments just messing around, but never bought the cable to connect to a tab or computer, which I finally did today, took me a while to realise it just used the tascam like an external storage, I thought there would have been some kind of export command, duh.. anyway got the file onto the tab and then saw it was wave and thought it may cause problems. I intended doing a Sharon type vid with me backing myself on various things and then realised it would involve syncing loads of tracks to different vids then plonking hm together, so I may go for the easier option and try something in your style. Believe it or not I actually used to earn money doing visuals at one time about ten years back, used Adobe after effects and 3ds max in those days, and it's all completely been lost in the mist of time, mainly because of other things taking precedent, or at least that's what I tell myself.

If you used 3ds max you wont have any problems getting it. Im familiar with what that is but never messed with it due to cost. Never made sense ..wasnt going to be in 3d animation. 🙂 I hqve used after effects but long ago when you could buy a stand alone version and not have to pay a yearly subscription.
Id go the davinci resolve route. If you pay for it ( the free vwrsion will work for these type videos we post here...) you will be able to use FUSION which is everything after effects is. Never hqve really did much on that page. Pretty cool though you get a video editor, special effecta type software, color grading, and daw all in one package. it just works.
for the 3ds max type stuff you should checkout BLENDER. I havent but i believe youd like it. lots of tutorials out ther.
for easy video making on your phone i havent seen anything better than this and use it quite a bit.

I have blender Greg, wasn't keen on it to be honest even though its free. Max is very complicated to get into, I also used a program called poser which was a figure animation, probably don't even make that one now, but was really good fun to use. Never heard of fusion but I will check that one out. I stopped using photo shop because of the subscription, different program altogether as you know but they had to stop pirating.
I did visuals for bands, the type you see on screens at festivals, my main program was a live visuals editor called archaos, you could mix visuals as the music was being played, drop effects in and all that kind of thing, we were called VJs as opposed to djs, all in the past now though, people wanted work for next to nothing and there was too much involved time wise from my point of view
This is one of mine, I did literally hundreds, all different types effects and themes, a lot was dance music, as in clubbing

Here's a different style one I made I think this was for a fellow in New York called Audiomic, he was dj, but it was around 10 years ago so I am not sure, memory isn't what it used to be, the other one was for an English band called Orme, you probably won't like the music in this one, or mYbe you will, there are a few I have that were made as demos for other people to see what I can do, not sure if this was one of them or not, I did lot and can't really remember, every aspect of this was made in 3ds max and put together in after effects and a couple of other progs
Not posting anymore as I don't want to bore you, in any case that was the past
