I hear you!

For the record, my general suggestion is not tempo, but option.

And I'm sure that the membership growth does not depend a lot on this subject.

I'm also sure that many do not understand the unique opportunity for improvement

Hey Oliver, you can always cheat ;-) Use Audacity and record the song at a slower tempo then use effects to change the tempo up to 220bpm.

How can I be sure that Audacity 220 will agree with FM click track wink ??

I think the problem lies in that people are afraid to be judged.  There was so much talk about I'm doing part 1 and I'm doing part 2 that people just starting don't want to admit that they have trouble even doing part 4.  There are people who are not musically inclined and playing anything is a struggle.  Maybe it's the job of the people who can play fast to slow down for the ones who can't play it fast.  I do agree that it might be easier faster but somethings aren't easy when you want to include everyone. I have gotten to the point of doing triplets in the song and to slow them down if tough but if it will result in more players I'll just take them out, do the easy version which should be called beginner version and play that slower.

I think you are right that the "beginner" songs are way over usual beginner abilities and that participation in group efforts has to decline as difficulty increases.

However, I think the whole idea is really great.  How else, for instance, could a kid in rural America get the "orchestra" experience?  Or, for that fact, anyone without formal connections (teacher).  And behind it all is the magic ingredient ...... motivation dancing

When I finish some more violins for the school I'll have to see if I can get them to join in.

I agree totally with Barry. We need simple stuff as well as more difficult stuff. I just got a new idea though I think we spoke about it earlier.
How about Pachelbel's Canon
The easiest part is only 7 notes repeated over and over. We can have the beginner play those 7 notes in so many different ways to learn. Long, short, pizz, separate, connected........

Ideas?

Naska, it is unusual that a person cannot slow down easily. It's usually the opposite...

I haven't take it from nowhere =) That is a tough experience from CP project. On my 1st video is noticeable that i'm speeding up and slowing down from time to time. That was because i've practiced with mixed midi version that was 68 approximately..

I will not vote - i'm ok with any choice. But i'm just asking all of you, guys to make it at least by 2 weeks before the dead line... or i'll screw up with the tempo.

Well... You did it Kevin =) And others did.. And i played 2nd and 3rd positions first time in my life and it didn't sound good... FiddlerMan said that he doesn't expect any perfection - and that was all that needed! Remember? Playing is a travel-not the destination, as someone said (don't remember whofacepalm)!

There are people who are not musically inclined and playing anything is a struggle...

Yes! It IS a struggle! And it HAVE to be! Look at the kid that learns to walk! Isn't it a struggle? Or learns to talk?  Why i don't afraid to be judged even if i write with Russian accent? Can one climb on a hill without a struggle? We are here not to show ourselves: "Look at me! What a brilliant player i am!!" It's the matter of learning and our common interest! We are here to help each other, to learn together and to HAVE FUN about all of it!! One can't get a progress without struggle...

You are definately right about rural America.  The schools around here don't have any orchestra. They do have marching bands to go with the football teams but when was the last time you saw a couple of vioinist marching on the field at a football game.  Out of 4 schools around here only one has a music department with an orchestra.

@Barry

I erased my original post because FM was the only one who could hear it.  But I think the fault may be here.  Something is not right and I'm wondering if I'm having MP3 problems because I am deriving my MP3 files from Audacity conversion?

I saved the file and will repost if I can get a bright idea.

What kind of files do up-to-date camcorders make?  No one is complaining about files with camcorders.

@Kevin

It will take time but I bet that the "group" idea spreads beyond FM.  It's too good to go unnoticed (by competitorsdevil)

I sent Pierre the click/guitar track for Red Wing this morning so when he puts up a download link here please tell me if the track is ok or not ;-) It's 220bpm.

Update: Actually you guys can download it direct from my public folder here:

https://public.me.com/webguru855

Password: 4pierre

I'll keep this up until until FM puts a download file on this forum. There's 2 tracks 1st is click only and the 2nd is click/guitar.

Glad you caught the horse trotting sounds Mad Wed. I trying for a while to make that sound and didn't think anyone would notice ;-) The download link I put up a few posts above does have a pause before the click/guitar track starts for those that need to have time to hit play or record before you get your fiddle in position to play.
