I received my new Fiddlerman Master Cello on Monday. It is fantastic. When it arrived, the box was in perfect condition. When I opened the box, it was packed so very carefully. There was nothing going to happen to that cello or bow in the box. The shiny black hard case has no scratches. Perfect delivery. I did not expect less. Every shipment from Fiddlershop has been perfectly and expertly done, by the best staff anyone could ask for.

They knew what I wanted, as far as sound, etc. I always want a full sound that is not bright. They deliver each and every time, and they did with this cello.

First, and least important, is that the cello is beautiful! I love to look at it. The color and flame are gorgeous. That is an added bonus. I am more concerned with sound and playability, but it does not hurt to have it be stunning.

The sound is so full and it fills the room. I was using my electric cello after I donated my other cello to a worthy, serious cello student. My former cello teacher now owns my other cello. The electric cello just does not replace an acoustic, so we bought a Fiddlerman Master cello to replace the cello that I gave to my former instructor.

I am finding that it is opening, I think that is what it is referred to as, up more and more as I play it. Today, I was amazed. I was playing the same songs as I did yesterday. I also am continuing with the cello part of the Wexford Carol, there is so much for me to learn from that cello piece. It sounded so much better today. I did not hear the scratch, the notes sounded fuller and more robust.

This is by far the best intermediate student level cello I have ever owned. It does have a flatter bridge than the other cello had, and that is taking some time to get used to, but I think that once I get used to the curve, string crossings will be easier for me.

So, the Fiddlerman Master Cello is a fantastic cello. Having a cello shipped from Fiddlershop to your house should not be cause for concern. It is amazing how well that was packed. We placed all the packing back in the box, sealed it shut with packing tape and put it downstairs, in case I need Ada Belle to get a check up. I will have to send it to Fiddlershop for that, I think. My local luthier/violin shop has retired. I would rather have it go to Fiddlershop, anyway.

So, if you are looking for a great acoustic cello, give the Fiddlerman Master Cello Outfit a serious look. You will not be sorry. Kudos to the staff at Fiddlershop.

Thanks for the review, and the order Mouse.

I got to hear Jaleel play it before we shipped it, and I knew that you would like it.
The sound on your Wexford Carol submission reinforced what I already knew about the cello. :)

But, it also surprised me to hear that you weren't happy with your submission. I think perhaps it's just the pressure of having to record quickly.

@Fiddlerman Did Jaleel play that cello in a YouTube about 9 months ago? I think I saw it when I was watching cello YouTubes Fiddlershop already made. It had a whole lot of fingerboard tapes on it. The color looks about right, too. You said you had the staff remove the ones on my cello before sending it, so I think that was the cello. It sounds like mine. There was another Master cello YouTube I watched, played by someone else, a guy, I think, for another customer, and it sounded a little different than the one I received. I think the color was a tad different. If it is the same cello that was used in the video 9 mos ago, other than the playing quality, the sound of the cello was quite accurate in the YouTube video.

I was rushed for the project recording. I received the cello early Monday afternoon. It was cold when I got it out of the box. I waited a couple hours for it to acclimate itself to the house before I played it. It was killing me because I saw that lovely cello sitting there and i was not playing it. So, I was rushed.

I listened to the recording again, yesterday. I don't think it was as bad as I originally thought it was.

I am also, extremely happy with this cello. I seriously love it. It is the best of both worlds. I can watch the cello I gave to my former cello instructor being played in the college orchestra via live stream, AND I have my new acoustic cello that I find much easier to play and the sound is just what I like. You and Fiddlershop know me well. I really appreciate the service Fiddlershop provides.

I really don't know. I doubt it but it's very possible. Since you were interested in doing the video, I had to rush things on orders. We were shipping 50 to 80 instruments a day in December. That cello was taken from the showroom. We grab the other cellos from our warehouse and set them up as the orders are taken but that can take many hours. We take just as much time on set ups regardless of how many orders we have.

But no matter if that cello had been played by Jaleel in a video or not, Jaleel both loved the way it sounded, and the way it played.

As for the look, they are pretty similar to each other for the most part. All made in the same workshop. However every piece of wood has it's own unique look and grains.

Ok, so I have been playing this beautiful Master Cello for almost 3 months. Have things changed? YES! For the better!

The cello is still holding its tune. I rarely have more than a tweak on a string or two. With the fluctuating temps, and sometimes heaters on and sometimes off because it is too warm to have them on, that is surprising, The Fiddlershop violin and viola keep their tune, also.

The cello bow that came with it, I love. I have two bows that work really well with AdaBelle, They both give it a different sound, It kind of fascinates me, but I do understand why.

The cello. Yes, my lovely AdaBelle. What can I say? She still is gorgeous. She still sings so beautifully. Well, as beautifully as she can with my playing. I still find her easier to play than the professional cello I gave to a well deserving cello student. I much prefer AdaBelle.

My Fiddlershop Master Cello is so comfortable to play. I am finding her easier to finger and bow. I still have issues with string crossings and bowing just one string, but it is so much better now,

I was working on Handel's Bourrée this morning. It is so much fun on this cello. The sound is full and robust, not robust at the cost of a hollow sound. I am very particular about that. It sounds lovely, even my bad notes. I am getting more confidence with AdaBelle than with the other cello. I loved the opportunity to play a professional cello, but seriously? This is more fun. I don't know what it is, it is just very satisfying. I am feeling encouraged each time I play AdaBelle, even with sessions that really are not up to par.

I hope this information is helpful to those searching for a cello.
