Oh no... one of my favorite Norwegian violinists, Alexander Rybak moved to L.A. and NOW he's playing hip-hop? 😱
...even says sh*t in this song - definitely goes against his 'wholesome' image (not that worse words haven't come out of MY mouth 😔)!
Alexander Rybak - Kid (Official Video)
It's a far cry from Alexander playing my favorite Bergrosa Vals, or his famous Fairytale! Think he went to Columbia College in Chicago for film music, then moved to L.A. - looks like he wants to do film music for Hollywood!
Will everyone eventually get hooked on hip-hop? 😳
Actually, I LIKE hip-hop rhythm! I'm just not keen on most lyrics used with it.
I LOVE the new tune in the latest "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F", Here We Go! - been attempting to make it sound good on my Maezarine, but still think some of the lyrics are distasteful & unnecessary.

I do want to explore/learn more about R&B and Hip-hop, but (like usual) I get confused with their forms & sub-genres!
I see (from wikipedia) that the definition of R&B has changed quite a bit since the 40's (why I posted under this heading, instead of Jazz & Blues). I'm interested in contempory R&B - "elements of pop, soul, funk, disco, hip-hop and electronic music".
Anyone got some favorites they've played on fiddle/viola or cello?
Trap is a sub-genre of Hip-hop, but I have trouble when I see a bunch of great comments for a performance like this... all I feel is - 'it would be great if someone played a melody line over this backing'. 🥴 ...is there any hope for me?
