Do you play "Morph" on EV?
We have had some Metal shared here on the forum - I will supply some links.
Afraid Melodic Black Metal & Melodic Death Metal aren't my cup of tea, either. Doesn't sound any more 'melodic' to me than: Punk, Black Metal, Goth Metal, Death Metal, Doom Metal, War Metal, etc...
Oh, well, I have a hard time telling the difference between Hard Rock & Heavy Metal - which I LOVE and grew up with!
"Kvaðning" - Symphonic Viking Metal (?) from Skálmöld & Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands - 2nd post in the Icelandic Music Thread
Metallica's "Master of Puppets" - David Riviera.
I prefer variety in rhythm, dynamics & tempo - a groove I can pour my soul into, like...
Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" - Golden Salt.
Great Performances - Roman Kim Thread - Check out his version of Deep Purple's "Highway Star" - it's unbeatable!
Fiddling With 80's Music! Thread - A little Ozzy here!
I Love Rock n Roll Thread - Joan Jett's hit! A great FUSE video here.

Fabulously Classic! I like it!
Ran across Luvienne's "Popcorn" when I was searching for a version to share in the EDM - On The Violin & Not Just For Dancing! Thread, but she seemed more interested in her body than in her music, and the sound was edited too much. Nice to see that's not the case here, in her "We Will Rock You" video!
Btw, I can't find where you 1st posted Mark Wood's video, so until I do -

@ELCBK I play it on an E.G. (electric guitar). It's my own work. I hope you enjoy it. I say melodic because that song is more melodic than most black metal tends to be.
@Mouse You make a good point about it becoming a different instrument once it's distorted. I agree. But I don't agree that distortion is static-y noise. There is a whole universe of different types of distortions and nuances. Bands have made their whole careers off having a particular distortion sound that's instantly recognizable.

What do you play on EV?
How do you approach playing on it - compared to guitar?
I'm interested, because I've taken workshops on pedal effects, but haven't plugged in my 5-string acoustic/electric violin, yet - actually, I've been considering possibly only using software effects, mixing/editing. Got a bit side tracked with a new 5-string viola (acoustic) and trying to learn to mix bass line in with melody, using only one instrument/one track - which may seem basic to you, playing electric guitar, but I started with only learning to play melody.

If you're good with software and wanna experiment, I agree it's probably best to plug direct-in. (E.V. --> USB Interface --> computer). And mess with different VST's. Amps are expensive as hell.

Rachel Barton Pine, mainly a classical violin soloist, is also famously a metalhead and played in a heavy metal band for a few years.
Here's her playing electric violin in a heavy metal setting:
Metallica cover on acoustic violin:
Modern classical works inspired by heavy metal:
And here's her talking about the connections between classical and heavy metal:

You might be interested in this - completely forgot I started this Violin In Nordic Death Metal Thread back in July.
Several videos from the Swiss group "Eluveitie" are posted there. Not only have they had some killer violinists, but their music has inspired quite a few other violinists to play covers of their music.
Their music combines 'Melodic Death Metal' and "Celtic" - I'm curious to find out your thoughts on their music?
...still trying to figure out what you use a violin for if most of the music you play is similar your composition in the OP (?)

From Violino etc YT Channel - wish I knew this guy's name, he also has some great videos of Beatles covers!
Come on Fiddlers - you, too, can get a little WILD!
...maybe mix in a little Bluegrass(?)
