Here's a current take on Dark Island (my original was done some 5 years back - on solo EV if I recall - but having been inspired by @ABitRusty's recent take, decided to revisit it! Thanks, Greg !)
The backing track was arranged in MuseScore (piano, flute and - yes - at low level to give the flutes a more "brittle" sound - bagpipes - or as they say in German "dudelsack" - which is just a word that for some reason makes me smile......)

very cool @billyg ! you sounded great and i really liked the piano part. worked great with it. I didnt realize you had posted an earlier take! I found another similar tune in case its new to you..i discovered it a few weeks ago..farewell to uist..or leaving uist. not trying to detract form this topic just sharing info.
thanks for sharing and always interesting and fun to see what people are working on! liked the footage too btw. was that "THE" dark island? wondered about that.

LOL @ABitRusty - good man ! Oh, I recorded it somewhere in the depths of time - about 5 years back - not even sure if it's still on the forum here or not (some stuff was lost a year or so back) - I'll have to check now just out of curiosity... LOL - oh - I actually REMEMBER NOW - it was NOT posted here - I performed it live on StreetJelly, and way back in 2014/2015 I was referring to the tune in various places on the forum..... Wow... Aye.... That makes sense now.... Getting forgetful..... Old age disnae come alone.....
I'm not certain about the Farewell to Uist - the title is somehow familiar, but the tune doesn't come to mind. I'll investigate anyway !
You're not detracting from the post at all - it's all relevant !
Dunno about the island - it's nowhere specific - I just found a P.Domain image on the web, found some moving-clouds video, and an audio clip of blustery winds and just threw it all together in the editor LOLOL. All good fun !

This sort of thing irritates me immensely. It's the A.I. bots used by YouTube (and unscrupulous persons who claim copyright). I've had it in the past, and no doubt it will occur again. Utter nonsense, but there really is nothing you can do about it....
As it happens, I THOUGHT the tune was traditional It was actually pointed out to me that it is NOT - and I have in fact corrected the information in the description - and if anyone owns the copyright to the tune is is a Mr. Iain McLachlan.
So there, you "copyright claimants" - a curse on you ALL......
Here's the updated description once I was informed about the composer....
(Traditional - see note) Scottish air - Dark Island, with backing track created in "MuseScore", using piano and flute voices..... **EDIT** It has been brought to my attention this is by a known composer, and is not strictly "traditional" in the usual sense that no attribution can be given to the originator.... It is therefore my great pleasure to attribute the original music to a Mr Iain McLachlan - the air he wrote in about 1958 was originally called "Dr Mackay's Farewell to Creagorry" by its composer, - and was used as the theme tune to a BBC TV series called - yes - "The Dark Island". So there you have it !!!!!

my apologies @billyg. i found that out after hearing Dulahans version and reading that either on their page or in the process of searching for other versions of the tune. Then didnt even think to mention history. I post my vids unlisted and comments disabled since I only share here. I Need to start filling in the description tab on youtube better.
****EDIT
AHH..i know where i found that info. thesession.org at the bottom of the link to the sheet music there was a discussion about it.
