I didn't get around to posting the live stream link before the concert on Saturday night, but here's the video!

I'm still not fully recovered from post-COVID symptoms, but in early May I felt like I was ready to add a second orchestra to my schedule, and I rejoined the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra for their final concert of the season. You can find me seated third chair in the viola section.

The program:

Haydn, Trumpet Concerto, first movement (UCD concerto competition winner)
Glass, Violin Concerto No. 1
Tchaikovsky, Symphony No. 5

The soloist for the Glass concerto, incidentally, is also the concertmaster of my other orchestra.

@AndrewH -

Really appreciate you shared this - just listened to the whole Concert!!!

I'm not always a fan of Philip Glass, but I thoroughly enjoyed this piece & performance!  Loved the other ones, too.

Is the instrument layout different than usual for this concert?  ...maybe I just haven't paid close enough attention before. 🥴

Glad you are feeling up to playing more, now.

No change. This conductor has consistently used the Vienna layout, at least since 2013, in both orchestras I've played in with him.

super as always @AndrewH .   i did kinda feel bad for the soloists in the 55-ish range.   The way the stage was laid out put the conductor behind him.   That may be commonplace but it seemed like he had to look back over left shoulder at him.   but the performance was great.  thanks for sharing again!
