He has been sooooo busy the past month, it is incredible. Thomases conductor, Sascha, offered to teach Thomas FREE after his audition for the BSYO last month and he could not be happier. As you all know, not only have I butted heads with his former teacher Lynn, but he felt miserable half the time when he went into her studio. It got to the point where he was trying to find excuses for NOT going, which is unacceptable. So when Thomas auditioned and got the assistant principles chair, Sascha offered to teach him and we jumped at it. She decided that he was completely knowledgeable with the 3d position, so now he just began 5th position. And let me tell you, it is no piece of cake, especially now he has "music homework" from the new 5th position book, Suzuki no. 4, Wolhlfarght, op. 45..... So combining that with practicing for his 3 competitions he is entering in this state, his workload has increased substantially from his private lessons to orchestral pieces to competition pieces. Here is his first video on the 5th position from yesterday and we took about 3 hours today just on this new position. Huge improvement already. He wants to nail it down before Tuesday and I honestly think he is going to make it. I will take a video right before his lesson.
