Thanks all for taking a look and for the very kind comments as well.
Grandpa, not sure of its origin to be honest, Know it was written about a dying soldier though.
Emily I tried to put a bit of effort into this one, as its such a good tune, both to play and to listen to. My fave version is fergal scahills, but as you know there are loads of them.
A bit rusty, you are prob right about shutting the door, but I cant think of anything else I can do with it lol, I have done it to death if you pardon the pun..
Thanks Mouse and Mark as well.

Definitely don't shut the door. It's always good to come back to a tune after leaving it for a while

Thanks for taking a look sharon. I find myself these days not having enough time to practice everything because of the amount of tunes I have learned, so I polish a couple now and again, its like the night music one, not played it for ten months lol, and I now have dropped quite a few to try to concentrate on playing less tunes better, and I think its starting to pay off with tone and intonation, dont know what you think about practice but I think its extremely hard to gt a large amount of tunes good, bcause you whip through them fast and its counterproductive, but sayin that its just hobby and in the long run doesnt really matter anyway, hope you are keeping, well,

I think what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I'm working on the 1st movement of a student concerto that is easier than the stuff I've been practicing, but I wanted to focus on things that I feel I can improve like bowing and expression. Working like this right now feels more satisfying--more productive.

Of course it matters! So much of what we spend our lives doing is the mundane (and necessary, of course); music making is part of the extraordinary stuff
