New fiddle i picked up mainly for travel. Wanted something that sounded good but didnt have to worry so mich about as far as temp changes and humidity...etc. It has all carbon composite parts including bridge. Has geared pegs and 4 fine tumers
Larsen something or another strings... cant remember.
Sounds great to me. Not as open as my wood fiddle but still has a good tone and projection. Im thinking if your looking for a 1000 or less violin, give this one a look.

thanks! worked out well that local shop had one. fiddlershop carries them too.. as you know. 🙂 I cant say enough that to me in this price range the sound and build will be equal to whatever you can find. It is on the subdued side as far as volume goes, but thats good. im definatley not wanting to project over everyone else so works for me. But its NOT muffled or anything. just more on the quiet side. ill post a couple more tommorow.

thanks @stringy
yeah i think this would be a perfect 1st violin and is gonna be a great addition for travel reasons. For the 500-1500 range i think one should seriously consider this. Youre going to get something in a fiddle that still has a reason to keep in the collection if you ever decide to step into the 3000.00 or up range.
heres some clunky fiddling recorded on my phone.

Thats some nice fiddling going on there, I like the softer sound you are getting from it as well.
Is the bridge carbon fibre? I was just wondering what it would be like paired with a wooden bridge.
I myself now use only my musing bow, which is a carbon weave, wasnt cheap but I love it, I like the idea of different materials, just because they have always been made of wood doesnt mean that they always should be.
Cant beat a sunny day

Looks intriguing. I hadn't considered one, but they are affordable and may be slightly better than my German factory job. I'd have difficulty choosing which version, though.
I really couldnt say that its a replacement for a fine wooden violin but i dont think thats what its purpose is. Its kinda neat that it can even be made and get as close as it does to one though. And even thats going to be a personal thing from player to player. some may feel they are.
@Mouse sorry i missed your post above. yes it is heavier, but i notice that when ive played it for a bit then picked up my main wooden fiddle. If you just pick it up without a moment in time reference, i dont think youd notice it. its only by doing an A vs B kind of comparison that i think it would be apparent.

I think they probably discussed this on VCom, but since wood is fibrous (and carbon-based) and CF is carbon fibre, I'm not sure why CF couldn't one day imitate wood well.

@ABitRusty Congrats! Sounds great!
I got one, too, about a year ago, used (looked brand new--nothing wrong with it). I like to use it now during the hot (HOT) Georgia summer, taking it to my group practice & sometimes even to my lessons--convenient to be able to run into the store for a few minutes without having to worry about leaving it in the car (would never do that with my wood one with this heat).
Mine came with Dominants; didn't like them on it, and changed them to Larsens (since that's what they normally come with), but they may have been worn, don't know. Haven't tried anything else on it, been happy with the Larsens.
I agree with you about the price/value of it. And it's practical value (durability) makes it more valuable, I think. Wouldn't hesitate to take this along on a trip

I think it's already being done to some extent. Over the last 15 years or so, I've seen a handful of Luis & Clark carbon fiber instruments in orchestras I've played in. If I were blindfolded, I probably wouldn't be able to identify them as carbon fiber, even in comparison with wooden instruments in the same price range.
