EXACTLY!!!! YES... Its an issue on a trip because i wont trust leaving my wood violin in the car..  and on a plane the worry that theyll make me check it.. really depending on the flight crew to let me put it in bin.   but now if its checked.. with a hard case.. womt worry as much.

I think they probably discussed this on VCom, but since wood is fibrous (and carbon-based) and CF is carbon fibre, I'm not sure why CF couldn't one day imitate wood well.

I think it's already being done to some extent. Over the last 15 years or so, I've seen a handful of Luis & Clark carbon fiber instruments in orchestras I've played in. If I were blindfolded, I probably wouldn't be able to identify them as carbon fiber, even in comparison with wooden instruments in the same price range.

I notice this one when immediately compared to my Jay Haide euro ( which is NOT a 960.00 violin )

Its like listening to music with earplugs in and then taking them out.   ESPECIALLY on the A and E strings.   The glasser is more focused or id even say softer and focused... the wooden more open and alot morr projection... my wife could tell the same sitting across the room.  but we both agree that both sound great...just different animals.🙂

its easy to play as violins ive had go.  other than weight i dont feel uncomfortable with it vs the jay

the glasser is fun... no weird feeling or sound.. and like above a lot less environmental type worries.

Abitrusty, you convinced me to get one of these, but when I looked at the price over here for me its unaffordable, 1500 us dollars which equates to around 1250 English pounds, (Gear 4 music) was thinking of getting another fiddle but for that price I could pick up a half decent french antique one, its unfortunate that we are being ripped off so much in this country, but thats life I suppose. Like the new vid, especially the cats cameo

Random question, but what does the CF violin smell like?  Im sure that sounds bizarre, but one thing I love the most about my violin is the smell of the wood.

elcbk... oh no, not taking in another.  im hoping  its a neighbors cat down the road.

Mark ..yes it is.  very much so. lol

stringy... i wouldnt have bought it if not..again..for travel and just playing outside reasons.  but if its a first violin i think its well worth checking out.  probably not going to have the same appeal as a French antique for most🙂

kennon.. it doesnt as far as i know.  no chemical type odor.   and i didnt consider smelling it for smellings sake.  i know what you mean about wooden instruments though!
