Just playing around with a new tune...thought Id pose this question. Enter your answer in the poll. when I get 10 replies Ill say what fiddle and string type had the most.
Same mic, same distance. no eq or any type of massaging of audio except level matching.

ahh..thank you @elcbk. i had just started working on it and was playing on the 3 and wondered if the mic picked up how different each fiddle/string combination sounded. when i listened back i thought it did so posted the video to see what yall thought. no biggie... if it sits for a while without 10 i may try again faster and try a bit cleaner post of playing.

Voted!Question : is it the same bow too, for each of them ?
thank you! yes same bow and, as well as i could manage, bowing/ornaments and such. all were pretty well recorded in same spot so mic placement about as consistent as possible.
annnd..Im not trying to prove anything about strings or fiddles outside of MY combinations. this is more of a test of my current setup and not any type of string demo thing.

Thank you @JohnG and thats helpful feedback. appreciate it.!!
THIS may screw up things and if this changes anything for those that have already voted you can note that below with a comment. This is all 3 again in same order...different tune. "video 2" has no eq or reverb.. just a dry signal. Video 3 has been eq'd and has slight reverb added. Thoughts on differences? you may not hear anyway without earbuds or speakers. not sure how your phone speaker would sound.

I voted earlier and chose the second violin, im listing to this at work on break with a bonz head set, I like he 3rd video second violin.
I'll listen at home with better head set and see if I change my mind if so I'll edit this post to reflect that.

Well, in a fairly quiet area they work ok, in a noisy factory I have to stick the ends that are suppose to rest on your temples in my ears to hear them, if I want to really listen close I have to cover my ears with my hands to block out the room noise.
May be under a set of ear muffs they might work for mowing, without something to block the mower noises I doubt you could hear them.
After listening with a better set of head phones, I still like second fiddle on the 3rd video.
Also I'm impressed with the authentic sound your getting, your ornamentation is spot on.
Well done.

@ABitRusty Okay, it looks like I was the lone “C” vote – but I had to listen to B & C several times to decide. I think the 2nd part of the C part won me over—I just liked the tone better on the higher notes compared to B.
I’d say the same thing in the 2nd comparison video. I think I prefer the dry signal to the added eq & reverb in the 3rd comparison for the tune you played.
Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.
