I have been practicing this piece. I absolutely love it! ❤️As I always do when I get something new to practice. My teacher has a wonderful ability to find me all the most beautiful pieces in the world. 🤩

Here is the first movement - largo.

I see that I still have to work with my intonation, I have played this mostly without this Youtube accompaniment so there is work to be done. This is how it goes today. I wish I could play this with a real pianist some day...

@Ilona That was wonderful--what a beautiful piece.

It is good to be able to play live with others.  Of course, this is not always possible/practical, so making use of available technology (youtube, etc.,) for practice definitely has its merits.

Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.

@Ilona -

That's a beautiful piece!

I notice a lot of new things - you are much more relaxed, now!  Your shifting and vibrato are very graceful and fluid. 😊

It is so wonderfully obvious, how much you enjoy playing this!

Can't wait to see & hear you play your new Cello!

Thank you all so much for your kind words! ❤️
I'll post a video of the second movement a little later, it's still in progress...

I think this sonata was originally composed for violin, so if some of you want to try it, you can easily find it on IMSLP.

That's beautiful @Ilona ! nice interpretation, it's obvious that you're enjoying this.

And a big thank you, now I must try this on viola. Slow pieces (or movements) have my preference – partly because I'm incapable of playing fast, I admit – and this forum is always a good place to find ideas :--)

@wtw Yes, I’m sure this will sound really nice on viola!

Here is my practice video of the second movement too. It’s a lot faster and a lot harder because there is so much jumping back and forth, but it’s also a lot more fun! 😄 I really love both of these! 😍🤩

@Ilona -

I LOVE watching you play!  🤗

This is such a beautiful piece - I love music in a minor key.

Both parts will sound wonderful when you can play them together!

Thank you very much, for sharing your progress!

🤔... now I want to learn this, too!

You'll probably think this is silly.  Last week Kevin read that someone near us had a cello for sale and I got kind of excited, thinking maybe I could learn to play it! 🤗  Then, I realized I still have too much problem with my legs swelling and too much pain in my hips/back to sit in a chair long enough to practice! 🙁

🤭 I don't think I can play a cello while I'm reclined on my bed. (lol)

Thank you so much, Emily! ❤️❤️

Don’t say you couldn’t play cello, there’s always a way. Or what do you think of this picture where my daughter shows how to play cello in a more relaxed way laying on the floor. 🤣🤣

The idea of trying the cello is not silly at all! Just be careful if you decide to try it, you will never go back to the violin again. 🤭

Ha!

That would have to be me!

...but, then where would my Cats go? 🤣

Actually, one thing that really makes me think twice - the price of those strings!

That's interesting. Playing the cello lying on your back.... I would like to hear that.

@Ilona  I don't know cello, so can't comment but I think your cello has a very sweet tone! This piece sounds very smooth!
