So my old tape-based video camera finally went belly up and I had to buy a new fancy digital one to replace it.

Just to christen the new one, here's a tune from my pop song book with CD accompaniment.

@Jim Dunleavy -

Beautiful playing of a beautiful tune!

Outstanding video - congrats on your new video camera!

I had forgotten I wanted to learn that piece by Christina Perri.

Love your lighting - helped set the perfect mood.

Thank you for sharing your music! 🎃

WOW! A truly beautiful tune played extremely well and your new camera does a remarkable job. Thank you for sharing this.

Edited - Just realized the name of the tune is the title of the thread! uh-duh!

@Jim Dunleavy Nice tune, & wonderful playing!  The CD accompaniment is great,  and that new camera works well.

Jim Dunleavy

Sounds great, very well played.

And yes I noticed the looseness of your hands very impressive, your vibrato sounds very good.

Camera looks good.

Thanks for all the lovely comments guys.

@ELCBK the lighting is just my kitchen light lol. Usually I record in the daytime and use the light from the window, but I did this one yesterday evening.

@ABitRusty  I looked at getting another camcorder, but they didn't seem great value so I ended up going for a mirrorless SLR that also does video. Best value seemed to be the Canon M50 MkII, and it also got good reviews so I went for that. Lots of vloggers use that model apparently.

That has a 50mm lens included?   Perfect camera and lens for this stuff.  Really like the lighting you did also.

It came with a 15-45mm zoom lens, and I bought an adapter to use the old lenses off my film camera (50mm and 42-70mm zoom) though the auto focus won't work with those.

For complicated reasons to do with the sensor size, you need to multiply the focal lengths by 1.6 to get the equivalent of how the lens would work with a 35mm film camera though, so the included lens works like a 24-72mm and my old lenses are equivalent to 80mm and 38 to 112mm, so quite a good range.

It's perfect for my videos, but also naturally makes a great still camera so I've been getting back into my still photography a bit since I got it.

Well done! cheerleader
And congrats on the new camera! I occasionally use my nice digital camera, but its video function could be easier (video function on the dslr cameras was a new feature when I got it, they newer ones are so much nicer) so I just use my phone.

Great stuff Jim, only just come across this, must have missed it when I was away. I really like your vibrato. I amm not familiar with the tune but then again I dont listen to much pop type music so thats not surprising, what type of fiddle is it you are playing by the way.

Thanks @stringy .

That's a Fiddlerman Master from 2017 I'm playing - importing it to the UK was a bit of a pain, but it was well worth it.

I've been enjoying your stuff that you've posted on YouTube as well by the way - some excellent progress there.

It sounds excellent, pity they dont have a store over here, I wanted one of their composite bows but had to buy one from over here due to the import problem, thanks for having a glance at the yOu tube stuff.

England, Liverpool to be precise, well actually a beautiful hamlet very close to Liverpool, full of thatched cottages and rolling hills like shropshire, St Helens is its name, Gordon Shumway and Jim Dunleavey will no doubt have heard of it, and probably have holidayed here.
