Hello! Setting up this thread so I could share my progress with everyone. I've been playing the violin for about 7 weeks now - still have so much to learn - so I could use a lot of pointers from you all 🙂
For my first progress video, I picked one of me playing "Happy Birthday". I learned this piece so I could send it to my mom on her birthday. She lives on the other side of the world, so I couldn't be with her on her special day and I thought it would be nice to play this song for her.
The video is in two parts - part one was taken on my 2nd week of violin lessons, when I first started practicing the song; part two is the video that I sent her (I just cut the greeting out lol).
I sent her the video last Monday, and as soon as she finished watching she called me on Skype. She was crying! That was the first time she ever saw/heard me play.
Here you go:

My neighbors probably want to strangle me for all the noise I've been making. But hey, "no pain, no gain" right? Except, they feel the pain and I get the gain (I'm really sorry, neighbors :-S)

Yipee, I have a badge now!
Thanks, y'all for your comments! Hearing good things from fellow fiddlers warms my heart and motivates me even more! (But I do welcome constructive criticism with open arms, LOL)
Last month, I had my very first recital at the school where I am taking my lessons. That also marked my completion of the Primer Level for Violin. Looking back, I am so happy I finally made the move to learn to play. Barely 6 months ago, looking at music sheets intimidated me so much. I would literally look away, lol.
Now, I just love looking at them and trying to play them! And it feels so awesome. Even making mistakes...because I think it means I am starting to understand music enough to know that.
Anyhoo, here's a video from my recital 🙂 Not much, but I hope you enjoy!
