It's the summer so my grandsons are over, we are missing the grand daughters but unfortunately I didn't follow the rule book so it's just us for most of the day (which actually becomes a blessing in disguise)....after a brief moment of sadness, which was quickly cured by some ice cream for breakfast (they instructed me that rules were made to be broken by grandmas!) they asked if this year they could learn the fiddle with me - needless to say, I of course, jumped up and down with joy!
They disappeared into their room to let me finish up work, and came back 2 hours later. This is their first song - Oh how kids learn, using my fiddle for now (they even put tape on by watching a youtube vid!) - after wiping my eyes dry I am off to purchase them a couple of used fiddles, wish me luck, second-hand stores here we come, gonna make this a great day!

Too funny guys! - Hearing them play definitely reminded me of how bad I must have sounded...and probably still do...they'll probably be teaching me before the end of the year! But what I like most is they haven't looked at their cell phones since friday, and between practicing and running around playing I think they are having a good time.
Valarie Ryals, a local, absolute sweetheart fiddle instructor let them pick through a bunch of used fiddles - she even squeezed them in an impromptu lesson and they loved it.

Come on over Bocaholly, you more than welcome anytime!
I think it's important for them to have something to do when they are over here, kinda giving them a break from reality...the fiddles were very reasonable so if it doesn't continue we will pass them along....and of course the normal kids stuff. We packing up some sandwiches and gonna take off to look for a good swimming and fishing spot today.
Want them to meet people, make friends...and have some fun stories and experiences to hopefully pass along to their grandkids one day!
