Since I seem to make a lot of videos, I decided to make a thread to keep them in one place and hopefully one day get to look back at my progress.
I got my sweet little violin in the mail July 24, and have made videos here and there since then. Here are the videos I've already posted, the one I made today is at the bottom:

and here is the one I made today, for day 24 (I ditched the iPhone for today, and did a proper set up). I hit more than one flat note, but I'm working on that fingering. And I did screw up in one or two places... but I had to turn off my window unit air conditioner to make the video, and I was getting too hot to try again, lol.

You accomplished a lot in less than a month! You're sounding good and I really like your pinky working in the last video. That takes time to get used to and you are already doing it. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing your journey with us

lol, I wanted to put a fade out/fade in transition, but couldn't find that option in the video program, I'm sure it's there, but oh well, a still of the background took its place, lol.

iMovie... I don't take many videos with my camera, so I pretty much have no clue how to use that program.

I'm still practicing Ode to Joy, and it feels easier to use my pinky today, though this sure makes my fingers feel short and stubby.
I want to get a nicer curve to my finger, make it not feel or look so forced, but I'm not sure I'll be able to, that spot feels hard to reach, lol.
I think I should be ready to do a video of it by Monday after my class. I mess up a couple notes, but I think I've got it down. I just want using my pinky to feel more natural.
I played the notes on the string so that my fingers were in the position they are when I'm playing for the picture.

Pinky is a tough one for a lot of people, as far as I've found out. Don't worry you'll get there! It's oly been less than a month for you.

My teacher said after 20+ years of playing, she's still working on her pinky, lol. She has to keep another finger next to it for 4th finger vibrato because it locks up on her.

I guess that's where men might have an advantage. Their hands are bigger and it's easier to reach for them (not fair, right)

Yeah, not having to buy film helps. The initial purchase hurts quite a bit, but after that you're done, unless you keep buying pretty pretty lenses and upgrading camera bodies... which I did for several years, lol. But I haven't made a camera related purchase in a few years, and don't let myself browse the new camera bodies, or I'd be tempted to break the bank to upgrade again, lol.
