And then I heard you play it!
Nice one Barry, I'm
Impressed with the mellow tone.
Any chance of seeing you and HC doing a bit of a duet?

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

Just to spare bad viola jokes, let it be known (if you don't already know) ....

The viola was Bach's favorite personal instrument.

Also Mozart.

Beethoven owned and played a viola and the viola was a favorite in the French court of Louis XIV.

VERY cool Barry, CONGRATS!!!

Yeah, I think we have several "closet" violists here now (I'm not quite ready to come out), lmao.  You know, it's definitely a more comfortable play for us larger folk.thumbs-up

Very cool, Barry. Thanks for the demo. I love the way it looks and the sound. And it does seem to fit you better.

It's funny...I've never considered that one could play a viola like a fiddle. I've always thought of it as a classical instrument. But now that I think about it, that's what Headcheese did in the Bile 'Em Cabbage Down video.

I'd be open to taking up the viola, myself, if not for the fact that I'd have to learn a new clef. I'm not up for that any time soon. Kudos to you for doing it.

Congratulations!

thumbs-upcheers

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Pretty awesome, Mr...... even got a little can-can in there.

Does this mean you'll be giving up fiddle forever or just not playing as much.

What about stringing and tuning a viola as if it were a violin---GDAE?

Rosined - I did exactly that about 9 mo.s ago; shortly after I picked up the violin I discovered just how tight the fingerboard is so I decided to try the viola, but strung it as a violin so I didn't have to learn a new instrument.... my finding was,,, just didn't work very well; and I can't tell you exactly why, but it didn't quite sound right.

Now ... if only there was a forum - a website, if you will - where folks could post their experiences with a viola ...

roflol

Looks good, Barry. You're already a better violist than I am.

Sounds great Barry.

There is something to be said about having a C string :-)

That is why I loved the 5-string so much. Best of both worlds.
Your long arms makes it natural to play the Viola.

Great job. I'll work on the Violaman.com issues.
