Thanks for the video @Marikoli. I've practiced daily for about 3 years. Since about 10 years ago I've only practice sporadically. I've decided to stick with the practicing this time around. I watched a couple of Heather Broadbent videos and can see why you appreciate her. She seems like a very good teacher. I subscribed to her channel.
I've been working on Irish fiddle tunes, but I think I need to include other things. In your list of things you're working on, I saw Solvieg's Song from Fiddlerman. I'm going to print it out and add it to my practice routine to see what I can do with it.

That's great @RonB! I really do like the videos of Heather Broadbent. But there many other violin videos on YouTube that I do like very much too.
One of the first websites I found when I started learning the violin was this website and I've played several songs that the Fiddlerman has available on this website. Really like his sheet music because he shows the fingerings and the bowing patterns too, makes it easier to play.
Good luck to you!!

Hey @marikoli! I played decades ago in Junior & High school orchestras. Now I'm retired and have time to pick it up again. So I started this month June to pick it up again. I have some beginning books I'm using now. I'm really enjoying myself. So I was looking around googling violin and found Fiddlerman! I have a violin that's probably not that great but it does the job for now.

Thanks @AnnyJ Yeah straight bowing seems to be something that's really hard to learn. Last week I've been adjusting me violin posture. I'm holding it a bit higher and slightly more to the left. This makes it easier for me to play relaxed. But now I have to adjust my bowing too. Before it was going pretty straight, now it goes a bit crooked. So, I'm very focused on that now.
What are you doing to improve your straight bowing?
@Fran Woooow so cool that you're picking up the violin again! I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it!

@Fran, I just changed my strings last week. It was the first time after having used my strings for 1 year. I can tell the difference is huge!!! It's so much easier now to play. Me new strings certainly respond much better to my bow and I can play more relaxed. It's much more fun to work on intonation because with my new strings I can hear the ring of the notes better. I don't know if this always happens when putting on new strings because it was the first time for me. But I'm very happy with the result.
Do you practice long bow strokes on open strings? Did you post a critique video on this website? You would receive some very useful tips. Maybe it's just some small thing you have to change to get your bowing straighter. But you might not know it yourself and when other people see you play they can advice you. Or they might suggest you a good exercise to do.

@Fran Cool! Enjoy your new strings and let me know how you like them? Changing your strings for the first time is scary. I found it very scary... but I did watch Fiddlerman's video and followed all the steps. It took me about an hour to change all four strings but everything went well! I'm feeling very relieved Good luck to you!
