Noel on the Fiddlerman Traveling Community aViolin
I posted a Christmas Concert with the Traveler in the thread for the Fiddlerman Traveling Community Violin but wanted to share the best one in the “Share a Video” section.

Here is “Noel” that I played on the Traveler.

“NOEL” on the Fiddlerman Traveling Community Violin

This is the best song in the Christmas Concert I posted in the Fiddlerman Traveling Community Violin thread. I am posting it here because I wanted to share it with those not following that thread to share a little 2019 Christmas cheer.

Hope you enjoy.

Very nice, @Mouse I just learned The First Noel this week as one of my Christmas songs.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you Moonshadows. This particular song was in a key and had notes that I am comfortable fingering. The others were not as good. They were all worse after I turned on my camera to video it. I turn it on and, POOF, a whole lot of errors. Hopefully, doing this will help get over that. I am working on another.

I admire you for doing this, @Mouse. I am still "camera shy" and like you, the minute I turn the camera on, everything goes out the window, but you did well (probably why I haven't recorded anything in well over 6 months even though I know I have improved).

@MoonShadows When I have a cello lesson, everything I practiced and improved on, and I can really feel I have improved with my cello since getting my new instructor, everything I worked on goes out the window. Everything he asks durning a lesson, in my mind, feels like a test. I cannot take a test, so, I cannot answer. It is really annoying. It still amazes me that I got a 99 on my Algebra exam in 7th grade because I left out a minus sign I knew had to be there. I actually think of that when I encounter this issue, but it doesn’t help me think, “You can do this.”

But, forms, questions about things in a cello lesson, all register as a test. Mind goes blank. My instructor is trying to help. Keeps telling me, very gently, “This is not a test”, LOL.

With a recording, or even playing in a lesson, that to me is a test too. People or a person, will see and/or hear me. Why? Who knows. At 65, I don’t think it will change, but maybe doing this with a group that is non-judgmental, and participating with Fiddlerman’s group projects, I will become more comfortable. Time will tell.

As with all things @Mouse, the more you share videos, the more comfortable you will become. At least you have started. I know the only way is to start, but I keep saying "there's always tomorrow." Maybe "today" will be that "tomorrow" for me, and if not, there's always tomorrow. blink

Well done @Mouse - both on the playing (GREAT to hear and see The Traveler in action again - I'll have to sign up for a second shot - I miss her LOL ), and on sharing the video.

I completely understand the "camera goes on, and all control is lost" thing, and also, indeed the privacy issues which can be involved, but I do appreciate the share, Thank You Very Much !

As Jim says, indeed, it becomes easier.  I sometimes just set the camera on record even during practice (a) for specific visual feedback of certain technique or bowing and (b) sometimes, during what is usually over an hour, sometimes 2 hours playing, I just get bored and develop (I can hardly call it "composing") an off-the-cuff new tune - or at least the bones of it - so it's always good to be able to review stuff like that 'cos I'll often forget what I did, and some of it is in the region of being "sort of OK" LOL.   Hahahaha.. yeah old age don't come alone....

I HAD planned to kick-off a sort of combined "Xmas / end-of-year" party-thread, but the delay in getting enough contributors to Pierre's Drummer Boy project sort of stopped me from doing that ( not for me, personally, I didn't want people's attention drawn to "doing something other than the project" ) - maybe it's not too late - I had better record something ROFL !!!

Thanks again cid !

@BillyG I started a Holiday thread in the Breakroom. You can add videos there.

Yeah - I just noticed that and had commented (after I wrote the above).

Sure - if it's OK with you, we can use that !  Thanks !

@BillyG That is fine with me. I didn’t think of a video. Will add one, too when I get home. Maybe you could invite others to post a Holiday video when they reply to the thread when you do yours. Thanks in advance.

@wtw I am trying to over come this issue. Sure would make it easier in my cello lessons! You are welcome.

@ABitRusty and wtw, thank you.

@Fiddlerman You are welcome.

There are more vids on the Traveling Violin Thread. I haven’t done a Christmas video for my holiday thread yet. I have been limping around my kitchen baking cookies. My daughter and her husband will be here tomorrow. Unfortunately, the cookies my daughter likes are very time consuming. But, I don’t mind, they are for my oldest kiddo! 😁
