Can the false modesty, Joe.  You sound good and you know it.

But since you asked for some "substantial criticism", I'll see what I can do.  I think that if you relax your bow arm just a little and take longer strokes with the bow, it may smooth out the tone of your notes a bit.

I think you also may be doing something I have to work on myself, which is using more pressure than you need with your fingers on the strings.  A tense left hand can't move as well as a relaxed one.

Sounding good though, and it definitely was not a wasted month.

Lovely sounding violin you have there, too.  I like the tone.

Great job Joe,

After just one month you can play 8 pieces and even spiccato. smile
Bend your fingers on the right hand a bit to get more flexibility and experiment with using the whole bow.

You have a good ear Joe. Congratulations on learning so much in only one month.

I failed to read the cautions in your preamble and thought my computer audio  was broken dazed

(Just kiddin' smile)

After one month I was still figuring out how to keep the bow from hitting my nose.

Most excellent for openers, Joe.  1st-place

Nobody told me I couldn't play on the back side of the bridge !

(See, this is what happens if you don't have a teacher.)

I just tried playing on the back side of the bridge.  It sounds better than my usual playing.

Good job, Joe. Good for just one month. The thing that stands out most is - control. You have good control on bow, timing and everything else.

More happy days to come, dude :)
