Good morning @mookje, I agree, that "GMT+0200" throws you for a loop. There's only a one hour difference between the UK and the Netherlands. Even Greenwich is GMT+0100 now because it's summer time (Hence, the Netherlands is at 0200.) The change back to winter time is on October 28th in both countries this year.I always get messed up because, in the USA, we switch both ways a little earlier or later than in Europe so there's always a week or two where the difference between the east coast and the Netherlands is either 5 hours or 7. What a train wreck. It looks like the EU is just coming round to considering getting rid of "daylight savings time" altogether. Yay. Hope we do that in the US too. I think Florida is seriously considering it but it's not sure if just one state can go it on their own (or if it even makes sense in the broader North American context.)
Best,
Holly
Yes, Arizona does not do daylight savings time. It is up to the individual state.

Living in Northern Arizona it is kind of a pain. We keep the same time, in the summer we are the same time as California, Nevada. The reservation, which we do business with, changes to Daylight Savings Time, or "fast time" as they call it. In the winter, our time is the same as Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and the Navajo Reservation. I vote we all get rid of it so no one has to do math anymore.
Oh wait, you have to do math to post......

Federal law allows states to opt out of DST, but currently does not allow them to use DST all year. Florida actually passed a new law in March 2018 putting the state on DST year-round, but it hasn't taken effect for that reason. Arizona and Hawaii, which use standard time year-round, haven't faced that problem.
In addition to Alaska and Hawaii, all the US territories have also opted out of DST. All are in the tropics and have no reason to ever use it.

I would love it if Ohio would opt out of DST, and stick to the real time. It makes no sense to change, and then I wouldn't have to put with with my friends that actually think it gives you more daylight.

Alaska uses daylight savings time.

@demoiselle Music on the porch is not my creation, just having some fun. I usually don't practice/play on the deck, except when my neighbor had a loud/late party the night before ( I love early morning outdoor LOUD High on the E-String practices those days (Insert devil emoticon)..
I love the Beethoven quote, sort of like; any one can play notes, not everyone can make music...

I removed my nice enclosed back porch to add on a 4th bedroom as I got engaged! But I do play every Sunday at an historical bar outside of town. In the summer we play on the big front porch. I don't have any recent videos of it though. This one is from 8 months ago. It's super fun.

FB link - https://www.facebook.com/playm.....eporchday/ for next year for anyone interested ! By the way - it was on Aug 25th in 2018, and, I have seen reference to the next one being the same date in 2019 - but AFAIK it is NOT - and is as advertised, the Aug 31st 2019...

Just catching up - I realize I had promised to share the get-together I had with Bill and Pauline for PMOTPDay 2018 - I shared it on our FB pages but forgot to post it here - background - Bill (the other one!) had D and G harmonicas with him, Pauline plays clarinet ( tuned to Bb ) - unfortunately, although I could re-tune the fiddle (or, just play in Bb and Eb keys which I'm now quite comfortable with), the fixed harmonica tuning forced us ( well, forced Pauline on Bb clar ) into unusual-for-her fingering. You know, like us fiddlers generally end up playing in G, D, A and possibly C - it can be awkward for some of us to find the Ab, Bb, and so on until we're used to it - so Pauline actually did really well - the real unfortunate thing is that we did not include a piece with Pauline soloing on clarinet - because, she plays (in her "natural instrument keys" ) really well, and it is a LOVELY sounding instrument... next time, for SURE! so here we go... this was the first time we ever tried to play together, and very little has been redacted (really just my curses!)
TOB ( The Other Bill ) also plays uke, but he didn't bring it with him, and, on the uke he has it tuned from A up to Bb (and the other strings in 5ths to that of course) to accompany Pauline... I'll have to do the same on one of my fiddles, then we'll REALLY have fun !!!

Yeah - as I say - first time together, nothing in any way significant edited out - basically it was what we did... And, you're welcome to join in any time @damfino !
EDIT: LMAO Mandy - yeah - I have JUST ABOUT got over the effect that "You Are my Sunshine" has on me - I can just about tolerate playing and hearing it now... hahaha (that was an "in" joke folks - you HAD to be there.... )

Haha, I was surprised to hear you guys start that one up, lol. It does take time to get over a song you've heard over and over. But if you get over it, what will I tease you with during StreetJelly?
