We are finishing up a remodel of our house and I found my self there late one night painting and my fiddle was there too. I decided since the house was so empty and echoey it would be fun to wander around and play and see how the sound changed. This spot was the most reverby spot in I could find so I had to play a few fiddle tunes there. Enjoy!

Well played, and nice reverb!
I love playing in unusual places when I have the chance to do it, and I took advantage of having a general contractor in my extended family a few times. The most fun so far was in the ventilation air intake for a large building. The air intake was a big concrete tunnel about 20 feet underground, with a 10 foot square cross section. Absolutely incredible acoustics.

@AndrewH Wow cool ... was it super reverby?
@zpilot Um ... maybe 38 years
@BillyG Yeah I was thinking about that too ... do you play with earplugs a lot?
@Cearbhael I wish we had that sort of thing here. Here's its mostly bars and more formal square dances ... but would be so cool to grow up around that.

No, Mark, @fiddlinsteudel - not frequently but I do have a set. It was only during my playing in the empty room with my new MJZ905 - it has a HUGE dynamic range and can be LOUD if intentionally playing super-forte ff+ or whatever.... and when your ears start ringing (and, for me, at THAT point, everything starts to sound "flat"... very strange... and of course on a fretless, you adjust to apparently "correct".... hmmm)
LOL - looking back on it - I'm pretty sure the recorder was red-lining and overdriven at times - hahaha - this is it by the way - - https://fiddlerman.com/forum/s.....ol/#p86511
In the past though when I played guitar with some other folks in an impromptu-band - yeah - on stage ear-plugs might have been pretty useful to cut out the drummer behind me LOL..... Check out my Facebook profile thing - hahah -
The box second from the right is the one I had in mind....
P.S. Just kidding @all drummers out there - you carry the beat, couldn't do without you !
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

How fun! Great videos
I've been itching to redo the room where I do my fiddle videos (right now spare bedroom/catch-all room, haha), it would be fun to have an empty room to play in, even if just for a day

Haha I thought you have a great background for videos. I always did them in my office which was always a mess, the best I could do is close the closet ...

I purposely rearranged that crowded room to fit my photo backdrop and lights in it for videos, haha. The room needs repainting, and when I do that I'd like to make a permanent backdrop out of old doors and string lights, something that looks pretty even when not being used for fiddle videos and Streetjelly.

Yes. Probably the second-most reverb I've ever played with. The most reverb I've experienced would be in the cathedral where one of my orchestras performed the Mozart Requiem last month. I played a little in the almost-empty cathedral at the end of the dress rehearsal after most people had left, and it was almost too much reverb.

I got to play in an empty church when I had the Traveling fiddle. It's a little village museum near my house that I was doing exterior videos at, and one of the people who care for the museum opened up the old church to have all to myself I got to pretend I was super awesome at playing for a few minutes, haha. I loved that sound.
