That was much better!
But one thing disturbs me. Could you please watch your previous video on that page? What can you say about your left arm? Please, keep it straight. It much easier not to fall in bad habit then fix it later!
Also you can already start to work on bowing. Practice slow bowing (you can use open strings - no need to concentrate on intonation) - it will help you to produce steady sound. And of course, while you do that, hold the left hand straight in Ist position.=)
That's a great improvement for the time you play!! I really think that if you continue that way, you'll be grate!

When you drop your bow on the table before you put the violin to your chin it scared me on my headphones! LOL Just be careful not to bash the tip into anything if you can help it, I guess they can break and it gets messy if they do. (something I read.)
I wasn't sure if you had seen it or not, but in the Duets Minus One section Fiddlerman made two jam tracks for Twinkle Twinkle
The new video he made on holding the viola answers a couple of the questions you had asked on holding the violin too a bit ago. (just wanted to let you know. :D)
Keep at your practice though you're doing great And good luck nailing down that pesky elusive intonation!!
On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

Much much better for sure Sam! You are doing great.
One thing I noticed about your right arm is it's looking a little stiff still. You have a great thing going as far as getting your shoulder in position for each string but let your right wrist be loose to adjust with your elbow and focus on your right elbow and wrist for your bowing more. RELAX! Think of feeling like rubber instead of mechanical. You are doing quit well. Music is a flowing thing and the mechanics are just there to get you close to your own natural style.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the internet, it's me with more horrid sounds to make you wish you had no speakers!
After a saddening few months which have involved the sum total of bugger all practice I have my self a substantially quieter EV which I can actually play in the house without making my baby girl cry and run away or wake up, cry and try to run away whilst stuck in her cot.
I've now had a couple of hours practice with the new beast (thanks as ever to FM, for sorting me out) I was initially disappointed with my self. However watching the videos I posted months ago I can only come to the conclusion that the my new violin is much more forgiving as I reckon it sounds better.
Also the new bow is lovely and the bouncy bouncy has gone, as if by magic
I am now recording straight into the laptop from the violin so the sound quality is much better, but there will be no chit chat from me as I have no mic to talk into. Lucky eh!
Without further ado,
If you entered by accident, nows the time to leave,
It's me,
murdering twinkle, twinkle,
only slightly faster than before.

Wow! How much have you improved since your first video.
I went through your whole post tonight as a beginner myself ( since December) I was keen to see if you had the same problems as me and what advice you were given.
Am I correct in assuming you can play with a lot more confidence now coz you don't have to worry about disturbing the household?
I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

Thanks Terry,
It's comments like that, which keep a chap going. There is likely some truth in what you say about not upsetting everyone in the house. However my other videos were done while people were out.
I really think most of the improvement comes down to the new violin and bow, it just seems easier than before.
I mean it's still acres from right so 'easier' is a relative term obviously
