Nice !!
Was the bow tasty!
Should i try mine when it comes?
Don't forget to hold the bow and left wrist straight (yep!, i know i'm annoying
)
Thanks!
It was all right I think next time I will have some peanut butter with it.
I see that the bow was a little bit off straight, but I don't think my left wrist could get any straighter when I started out that day it was bent all the way up to the neck of the violin!
Bad wrist

Don't think about that, just do! Later it could be much harder to correct and it will interfere quick pos shifting... You already improved a lot! and don't tell You can't do it! Play infront of the mirror for a while - You'll be surprised how fast that thing could be corrected with an appropriate attention

No I mean it looks completely straight to me lol
I am grumpy today because trying to play with proper wrist flexibility and change between up and down bow positions instead of just bowing with a stiff wrist is making me sound much worse

Yeah, sticking with it when it sounds like you're trying to bathe a cat is tough (particularly if you were previously getting a decent sound). It will get better, though. It will also start feeling a lot more natural.
When I was first learning how to bow, I just held my fiddle at the body and didn't worry about my left hand at all. It was just up and down over and over and over on the open strings while focusing on my wrist, hand, and elbow. (Less for my uncoordinated self to keep track of.) Try taking breaks to shake out your hands or play something for fun without worrying about bowing so much. I know that as I get more frustrated I also get more tense which only makes the stiffness worse.

I think I made some real progress with this today, I wanted to carry on but my hour for lunch was up. Probably just as well really because my bowing arm was getting pooped.
I think I had my elbow too low before, my fingers weren't really hanging from the wrist over the bow if you see what I mean. Elevating my elbow slightly (respectively for each string of course) made it much easier to flex my fingers. I didn't worry too much about exaggerating the up and down bow holds but just concentrated on finger flexibility in bow changes. I managed to remove most of the bounce again once the movement started to feel a bit more natural.
I could have sworn my bow change started to sound less scratchy. I may be imagining it but I think the adjustment to my bow hold has improved the tone of my notes in general also.
More practice tomorrow and a new video on the weekend I think!
Overall a much more encouraging session today

I've done another video, I would really appreciate some thoughts. I'm feeling less stiff in my bow hold. But to be honest I'm not sure I see much improvement in my performance over last weekend.
I have been playing overly slow to practice my bowing and I didn't speed up to record the video it seems, it's a very slow twinkle twinkle this week

Sorry Terry I Don't quite follow, I am using forth finger and it is the source of most of my poor intonation one way or another. But that's how it's supposed to be done so I will struggle on.
Now I am more comfortable with my bow hold, this week I really want to work on my left hand/wrist especially my string changes!
Any tips peeps? My wrist always looks really bad to me of late but I don't really see how to keep it straight and reach all the finger positions.
Also my first bow (stroke)? On a new note often sounds a lot squeakier than subsiquents ones, any thoughts there?
Many thanks as always!
