Last night i went searching for some smooth fiddle versions of this tune..mainly to learn the fiddle part to play with banjo. I found some absolutely great versions.....and then ignored what i found and made this.
Learned the banjo part from a lesson ..the fiddle in AEAE on Right and viola on left are just improvising around that melody. sent banjo to back so its mainly fiddle viola.
picture is if ol scratch were avian. 🤣😉
I will say the tempo is limited on this mainly due to banjo. I found this sounds better faster..and i can pull it off better on fiddle playing some parts of what i found online.
ezcuses.
this is how i spent my evening.

Okay, that's a GREAT way to spend the evening!
ALL of it sounded FABULOUS!
...like you've been doing this your whole life (including the banjo)!
AND, cross-tuned, I think it made big difference!
Thanx for sharing this - you mixed it very well & I really enjoyed listening!
Now, I don't see anything moving -
where's the dogs when you need them for a video?

@elcbk @Mark and @JohnG thank yall. for enduring.. 🤪 .
emily ..the recent chat about cross tuning made me revist for a try. always good to mix it up.
john i worked on that banjo part for 2 weeks to get to where i was anywhere close, even with some great instruction.. on fiddle im not there yet with the feel i want. i feel im still missing the groove.. i think im throwing way too many shuffles in there to fill space i shoild be doing better with bowing... or just holding notes maybe? But.. I know where i was with it and hoping to post some improvement..this can be a reference point. we'll see. lol. thanks again all!
EDIT ON 4/5/2022
Better I think. getting closer. no backing and shot with cell phone video.
