Here's my latest - I play it "cleaner" but with less expression. This take is really trying to draw some emotion and feeling into the piece - it's not quite there yet - but I know where I'm going with it... And yes - it is a 4/4 violin but the one which I've re-strung as a viola, and even more disturbing, I've re-tuned it up a full tone to D,A,E,B ( please don't ask )
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -

LOL - ty @damfino - hey - I'm just a "lost boy" - with fiddle forums, viola forums, lord knows what else - I've just reached the point of posting stuff everywhere so that all participants can see it and give feedback - so - apologies to all others who have seen this in like 5 different places !

And Dennis - I recall you playing this on the EV way back on some SJ show about a year back - with lots of slides and stuff. You were my original inspiration to take it, play it, and do something with it...

Whoa ! LOL - thanks for the feedback @Fiddlerman and also @Schaick - yeah - I'm getting it nailed to what I "hear in my head", I'm getting it - yup... it's what we do...
AND YES - @Schaick - that guy just ABSOLUTELY nails it vocally - totally freaking awesome - seen/listened to that cover several times over the last year... he "owns it, and brings it home" that's for sure.... Inspirational...
I have a "studio" recording of Eva Cassidy doing that song - it is NOT this one posted below - I couldn't find the one I have on YT - this appears to be a somewhat earlier one -
but - if I can find the studio re-take I'll post it as well - it just "stopped me in my tracks"... well that's just how it hit me... LOL And - you know - each and every individual performance is different. Even "marginally different" - and sometimes that marginal difference becomes a total "wow that was good" factor ! Which - as performers - is - hopefully - what we aim for - to engage the audience and make them go - if not "wow" - at least - hmmmmm... yeahh... coool.. LOL hahahaha
