Here is Dawning of the Day, similar to Raglan Road that I played a month ago, but in 4/4 time instead of 3/4.

Nice job. I tend to constantly look at my fingering. I like that you can hit the notes properly without looking at the fingerboard. I am working on it.

@Mouse - Thanks, I can't remember tunes well enough to watch my fingers! lol It's always been one of my downfalls when it comes to music (accordion, piano, organ, recorder).

@JohnG -

Sounding good!

Can you memorize this piece?

(sorry, you just answered that)

Your new chin rest looks much more comfortable for you.

Thank you for sharing this!

@ELCBK - Thanks, Emily. I'm feeling fairly good about my progress and the chin rest helps (most of the time).

You're making good progress! I see you're holding the viola much more easily now.

@AndrewH - Thanks, I think the new chin rest has helped, plus the repetition of putting it where it belongs!

Sweet!

In the video you can see the bow drifting over the fingerboard. Check the strings for rosin distribution after you play and you'll see where your bow has been. Try to keep it halfway between the fingerboard and the bridge.

I still haven't got the courage to record myself. Respect!

@Gordon Shumway - Thanks for the tip and encouragement. As far as bowing, agreed, what I'm finding is that I can usually hear the drift and correct, but when I get frustrated (as after 4 failed video attempts), both my ability to control AND hear the drift goes out the window!

@stringy - Thanks, I guess the almost an hour a day practice is reaping some benefit.
