Yayyy  clapclapclapclapclap

Great song (lyrics), and a fine tune !   Good luck to your friend with the contest !

On first listen, I thought the fiddle came through "OK" - but yes - possibly could have used a "lift" - but then again, that's just nit-picking !   LOL   It was FINE !!!

Good job Bluesviolin :)
I wasn't bothered by the sound at all.

Really nice.  You've really become a good fiddle player.  You could have mic'd the fiddle, but I like it the way it is -- laid back in there like the Texas swing bands of the 30's and 40's.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

Thanks all, for the kind words.

 that was just a bit of riffing with the Dmaj blues scale. D, E, F, F#, A, B, (D)

and the Amaj blues scale A, B, C, C#, E, F#, (A)

you can get a lot of mileage out of the major blues scale for country and swingy type stuff.

Hi there @coreshanethi - and welcome to the forum.

You'll find a LOT of folks here who are "enthusiastic newcomers" and keen to "experiment, explore, and spend time with instrument set-up, string types, bows and rosins" - as well as MUCH more experienced players whose feedback is invaluable...

For all of us, it is a journey of exploration and discovery, and what we share is of course solely our own opinions and what we have experienced in our relatively short journey.   Don't take everything you may read as "gospel" LOL - we often get it wrong - but - it's a friendly forum and we just exchange our thoughts and personal knowledge about playing and the violin in general.

Good luck with your own journey, and never feel hesitant to post a question or ask for advice !  thumbs-up
